Saddle Ranch Chop House

Theme Restaurant With A Good Vibe

Review Rating
Saddle Ranch is definitely a place to see tourists, drunk frat boys, baby boomers in heat, colorful locals and tourists interacting thanks to the benefits of demon rum. Although it's on the Sunset Strip, Saddle Ranch is not exclusively for nightlife and tourists. It also has a lot of locals who are fiercely loyal to the restuarant. It burned down a few years ago and was packed on the first night it reopened.

Some of their food is kind of blah but most of it is good and the portions are HUGE. (I asked for a small slice of chocolate cake oncel it was about 3" tall and a foot long. No irony here; it was that big.) They have a lot of specials, particularly BBQ. It's definitely a meat/meet market. Despite all of this, I have always had superlative service by genuinely nice staff (it's hard to dislike anybody giving you free drinks and quart sized margaritas.) Whenever I drive by, it's always packed with cars and people having a good time. Oh, and definitely stay to see the first drunk hop on the bull.
Saddle Ranch Chop House

good for tourists and sex-crazed twenty-somethings

Okay, so the food is averge in way-too-large portions. The drinks are strong enough to knock out an ox. But the bartenders are often cute, and the place has the general feel of a meat market. I tend to recommend it for bachelorette parties, girls' nights out, or young tourist friends in town. Other than that, there's nothing else of interest than to get drunk and watch the even drunker chicks trying to ride the mechanical bull.

Of all the Sunset Strip bars, Saddle Ranch is one that’s all bull. Known for its mechanical bull riding contest, the restaurant and bar is a favorite among tourists and former reality show contestants looking for down-home fun and huge portions. The brunch menu can cure any and all hangovers with its selection of mouth-watering pancakes, biscuits and gravy, and $9.95 all-you-can-drink mimosa... more

Best known as a wince-worthy cattle call for current and former sorority girls and the current and former fraternity brethren who love them, this Sunset Strip megabar has a secret. The food is good. Sloppy four-dollar rides on the mechanical bull are far less frequent during daylight hours, whento many an Angelenos surpriseSaddle Ranch serves a large menu of surprisingly tasty and cheap food.... more

Beware of the large-sized cocktails--like the margarita served in a fish bowl.

Valet is free before 4pm. After that, the crowded lot is still your best bet on Sunset. Remember to get validation for discounted rates.

Mechanical bull kicks it up in the midst of this Texas-sized steakhouse.

In Short Straight outta "Urban Cowboy" comes this ranch-style theme restaurant. Early hours, the crowd is a mix of families and happy-hour revelers, but after 10pm, the restaurant morphs into an intense pick-up scene. Mammoth portions for cowboy-sized appetites suit a late-night pig out--like mountains of potato skins, mini-cheeseburgers and fried barbecue wings--while main courses... more

Should have its own S.T.D. named after it...Saddle Sores perhaps? Like a massive kegger on the Deadwood set, only with more loose women and gel-doused white boys thinking they're tough cuz the Sigmas have their back. Gigantic drinks, packed crowd, and hearts so desperate you half expect a@s-less chaps might come back to Sunset. Thinks it's Guns N' Roses; but it's Warrant. Catch a ride on the... more

Yes, there is a mechanical bull here, and people wait in line all night for a chance at 60 seconds of glory. There are also bales of hay, carafes of alcohol, and none of (well, less of) the normal Sunset Boulevard snobbery you may find in other popular venues on The Strip. The outside of the Saddle Ranch looks like an old-west saloon straight off the set of Deadwood , complete with mannequins... more

My friends and I had dinner at Saddle Ranch last night. Wow was the food amazing. The steaks are to die for and are always prepared just right. Our waiter was so friendly and attentive to us. He definately made us feel like part of the Saddle Ranch Family. I love that!
We got one of our friends to even ride the mechanical-bull. What a riot that was. We haven't had that much fun in a while.... more

It was OK. Not the best place in LA. Not the worst place in LA. It was fun. Kitchy. Our server was sweet and nice. (I think she said she was new?) The decor is fun. I get it. When we were finishing up our dinner was when the "crowd" was showing up for the more Bar like nightlife. Definitely not where I would hang out for drinks, seeing as how I'm not in a Frat or a Big Boobed Blonde hoping to... more
