Ruth`s Chris, a classic steak house, is one of a chain out of New Orleans. The menu is standard steak house fare: to start shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon or escargot, a long list of vegetable side dishes a la carte, a few perfunctory fish offerings (a tank of live lobsters greets you as you enter the restaurant), pork chops, lamb, sweatbreadsĂ and steak. The cuts are ample and perfectly... more

When it comes to chain steakhouses, Ruth's Chris has a certain allure, especially for corporate travelers. The steaks are prime, tender and awash (or not, your choice) in butter. One of the most active bars in the middle of the city.

This is the Chicago branch of a chain that includes 52 franchises nationwide, including 18 owned by founder Ruth Fertel, who in 1965 bought the first New Orleans location from a guy named Chris. Atmosphere is clubby, with dark wood, golf memorabilia on the walls and a 60-foot bar. A second-level room has a separate kitchen and room for about 80 diners.

My 1st Ruth's experience was in Louisville, Ky on top of a building. I was blown away by the food and atmosphere. So when I finally went to the one in Chicago I was like how can this one top Louisville being here on Dearborn St? Well it did maybe even surpassed in service! Same 500 degree plate with delectable aged steak sizzling on top! Being in the VIP Concierge Business I have hit them all... more

We found ourselves in the doors of an amazing place. We were ushered right in to the bar to await our table. We waited no more than 15 minutes. We had the lamb chops and prime rib. This was the... more

On my first visit to Chicago, I decided to eat at places that would make the event memorable. The friendly coat and hat check attendant started the great service that extended to the waiters, bus boys, servers and maitre' d. The dining experience was upscale, but the patrons and staffs were not snobbish. My waitress made excellent suggestions for me: creole style barbeque shrimp,, stuffed... more
