Editorial reviews from the web (2)

Rubicon's longstanding success may lie in its appeal to a much wider audience than just the well-tailored suits of downtown. An abundance of polished, dark wood and exposed brick anchors this elegant restaurant firmly in the realm of urban-ly handsome, but softly curving blown-glass sculptures and colorful paintings belie the singularly gentleman-style tone. Romantics can get lost in the cozy...

Mario's is a small family-run restaurant with the
friendliest service I've found in the Bay area.
The waitstaff takes time to talk to you - last night
I saw one waitperson pay rapt attention to a table
of four new customers for many minutes trying to help
them decide what to order.

The pizza is good and they'll make it to order, paying
attention to details like "easy on the cheese" and
"well...

This restaurant has the worst service. I had to waive down 4 separate
waitresses before they took our order. Then we sat for 45 minutes
until we recieved our lunch, which we had to request because they
had obviously forgotten that we were still waiting.

Since chef Scott Newman left head up Mark Miller's Coyote Cafe
in Santa Fe, Rubicon has slipped. The Rubicon wine list is still
world class, but the food needs some serious work. With these
kinds of investors, I'm sure that they will get wind of the situation
and made the necessary adjustments to the menu and the staff.

Stay tuned for further developments!

Visited there on Saturday July 13th. Had an excellent meal.
There were four people in our party. Two of us ordered the
rabbit, one the duck, and one the braised OX tails. We tasted
all dishes between ourselves. Everything was outstanding.
Very intensely flavored entrees. Bread was also excellent.
I'm sure all of the dishes on the menu are winners.

For dessert we had between us the cream...

Great food; reasonable prices; excellent service; The decor
would

be better if it weren't for the dead flowers in dirty water.

Everyone from serious food lovers to socialites converges at this celebrated restaurant. A Drew Nieporent venture (like NYC`s Nobu and Montrachet), Rubicon is known for its celebrity owners (Robin Williams, Francis Ford Coppola, Robert DeNiro).
