Especially interesting was Eddie's statement "You are better off in the long run paying me as little money as possible," rather than shoving a policy loaded with features (and commissions!) at me. The rates were good, but not jaw dropping. ...
The idea of working with an independent firm and shopping around seemed cool to me. However this isn't at all how things worked out.
