I only mention it because when I first saw the movie, I didn't know that. A few years later I was telling a friend that I needed a place like that to unwind and she said, "well why don't you just go there? Duh!" I made the reservations right then and there and it was just what the doctor ordered. I'm not typically one to sit around in a pool with no activities, but I've gotta tell you. I spent about 80% of my weekend in their grotto hot spring pool. It's amazing. The other 20% of my time was spent having amazing massages and my all-time favorite spa treatment - The Mud Bath! Yep, that's right. I've never been more relaxed in my life. The mud is warm and your body is suspended in it. The only way I can describe it is like this - Every inch of your body feels like a grape suspended in a jello mold. Imagine that for a sec...Right? Anyway, I've been back 3 times since the first time and I'm looking forward to my next time. Little advice, only take on the Super when you have a couple hours(at least) to kill, because it is a full meal in itself. Loaded with steak, rice, beans, guacamole. YUM. The owners are friendly and the food is always fresh and delicious! In fact I just scheduled a business networking lunch with somebody that I haven't met before, so Kate Mantilini was the perfect choice. They've got something for everybody. The booth's are my favorite, they're large and private so you can really concentrate on the conversation and the food without being distracted by the other patrons. The ambiance was comfortable and inviting, perfect for the family. My 8 year old niece was treated to a very special Shirley Temple by our server. The food was amazing, mom had the lobster special, my sister had a delicious pasta dish, my fiance had an amazing risotto, and my linguine with clams was delectable. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the restaurant itself is spectacular. Of course, being a floral designer, I had to make sure that my sweetheart had the perfect flowers for her centerpiece, so I made arrangements with Crustacean to drop off her birthday centerpiece early in the day. When we arrived, it was first class all the way. They escorted us to our beautifully appointed private table and the flowers were already in place and everything was perfect. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and gave us impeccable service. I haven't even gotten to the food yet. It was unbelievable. From the lobster appetizer to the crab to the garlic noodles. Everything was absolutely delicious and the servings were ample. What a Great Time we had! The bowling was terrific. Nice clean state of the art lanes paved the way for a great bowling session. We took up 4 lanes in the corner. The real treat however was post-bowling. We made our way into the bar for some drinks and karaoke. Now karaoke is always a good time, but Corbin Bowl has upgrading their machine and I was blown away. No more scouring old books of song selections, they've got a computerized system making it so easy to find your favorites and put your name in the line-up. I'm sure online sign-up is not far away! They didn't stop there howevery, the stage is set for your ultimate performance complete with lighting AND smoke effects! So, it was a perfect opportunity to catch The Apple Pan bright and early just as they were opening and before the usual crowd starts to form. I try em on. I find the style that works, throw down the Amex, and I'm set. Plus, if they need any fitting, they mark em for you, and within a couple of days you're cruising around in a hot pair of jeans that fit just right, No Extra Charge! You can literally have any flavor imaginable. My all-time favorite, which I recommend to all my friends is Strawberries and Cream Cheese. As an LA native, I remember pulling up to the original shack at Beverly and Rampart for a Chili Cheeseburger or a Chili Dog, and pulling a bottle of Pepsi out of the cooler. The whole family would wait in line, place our order, and stand at the counters in the parking lot enjoying the experience. The perfect follow-up to a Dodger game! In a town that is so spread out and disconnected, Tommy's is one of the few things that fellow Los Angeles natives can share. Pink's has become more of a tourist trap and is nothing like what it was when I was a kid.
