It's worth the drive from San Diego and memorable the moment you drive onto the grounds up the steep drive. The place is huge! You're free to walk around and participate in chanting. The temple workers are friendlier than the monks, so keep that in mind when you're asking for direction. It's built on a hill in a quiet neighborhood with plenty of sun and shade. OHI has the biggest, organic garden that reminds you why you love vegetables. You can visit the grounds for free on Sundays. I made the mistake of inviting a friend on a Thursday and was yelled at by the woman in charge, otherwise I would have given them five stars. I donate to a local street sweeping company that in turn donates to people who need money to walk in The 3 Day Walk for San Diego. It's a small restaurant so don't expect a big buffet selection, but it's great for the price and speed.
