A Mediocre Cure for Late-Night Cravings

A mediocre cure for late-night cravings, Pizza 2000 has its place, but it's not everyday ordering.

Nothing here is particularly delectable, but it's beauty is that it remains open into the wee hours of the morning, and, well, few other delivery places in Newark do.

The submarines are reliable, ranging from decent to good. The bread is sufficiently fresh, the meat and fixings ample in amount and taste. Cheeses are limited unfortunately.

The cheesecake is solid, though, if you want to throw in a slice for dessert.

And it shouldn't hurt since Pizza 2000 is one of the more affordable delivery pizzerias.

The downside -- and it is a most regrettable one -- is the pizza, with its soggy, waifer-thin crust; scant sauce; and not-so-fresh cheese. The cheese may be that way because of the delivery time, given that the pizza likely won't arrive hot. It's a sheer waste of time, scarcely edible.

All in all, though, Pizza 2000 has assuaged my hunger pains on many a late night. It's just that if I had planned better, I all but certainly would have eaten from somewhere else.

Pros
+ Decent to good sandwiches

Cons
- Lousy pizza

As Much As You'd Expect for the Cheap Price by Olaniyi S. at InsiderPages

The pizza isn't horrible or anything its actually okay, but I can't tell you its great. Its exactly what I would expect from a store that spells pizza in bulk for such a cheap price. I ordered here for a concert its great if you're hungry, really hungry. Otherwise it leaves a lot to be desired.

My favorite halal pizza place in Newark by Umm Jaariya M. at InsiderPages

I absolutely love their pizza right down to the crust! This is my favorite place that I love to get pizza from in Newark (I think the Pizza 2000 in Orange is slightly better, but we're not usually in that area when we come to visit.) Its very close to Masjid Rahmah and my mother in law so its very convenient to get a bite to eat here. Also, their pizza is very reasonably priced. Many times when we're being really cheap, we may get a personal pizza for $3.50 and share it. More restaurants should make them. You can also get a large pie for roughly $10 if I'm not mistaken. Highly recommended.

One thing I don't recommend is everything else on the menu. If you're accustomed to (and are particular about) high quality sandwiches, you'll be sorely disappointed here. Me and my husband both agree that we would never order any sandwiches from here. They don't give you enough meat and they just don't taste right. If we wanted a good halal sub and were in Newark, we'd take a trip up to E. Orange to Mecca Pizza on 4th Ave.
