YOU All are right I didn't Do my research and when I didn't understand the fees and I should have left the Auction, I Took a Gamble and Lost so I am Complaining and Warning Others who may not KNow somethings Have to been MAde Clear to me, I think I would not be as upset if everything was disclosed clearly But it wasn't I am actually Lucker than most My car drove off the lot just Barely with the wheel about to fall off but I seen other customers that was not able to drive theirs off the lot. Other Customers that was unaware of the HIGH 25%-11% Buyer Premium and the bottom line the ones that go to the auction are low income people who just barley have a enough for a car and are Desperate for a car and don't think clearly that they can't have this dream they are selling Something for NOthing it is not Realistic. I had a WELL Bought Lesson! Still feel RIP OFF BUt Bottom Line its my fault for thinking I could get a GOOD Running Car for Nothing NOT REAL Smart!! DUMB ME!! NOW I KNOW BETTER!!! I WON't DO IT AGAIN!!

On March 21, 2012 I went to South Chicago Harvey Auto Aution Sign in and was given a bidders paddle and a booklet with the rules and regulation. During the Auction I was reading the papers I was given and did not uderstand on of the Fees Tax and Documentary Fee So Question A couple of the workers many knew nothing. But one told me it was referring to Sales tax which was base on where I lived I told him chicago and he said 10% and Walk off like he was too busy to awnser any more question then I start asking people who just bid question and was told I couldnt talk to his customers and to get a Dictionary if I didn't understand the paper work. I know I should have left then. I didn't have any attention on buying anything after that but another worker kept asking what I was looking for so I told him a mini van so they brought in some mini vans and kept pressuring me to Buy so on one of them they went all the way down to 2000 for a 2002 chevy venture that sounding good and looked good to I shock my head and they took me to the back they told my husband he couldn't come I put 600 down and ask him what was left and he said what every left when you subtract 600 from 2000. So the next morning when I went in I was told I had $1128.00 worth of fees and I was able to start car it look different sound different and had 177,000 miles on it so I ask if I could get repairs - or and exchanged and was told no! So I purchase the mini van and it HAS Many Problems the first thing is the wheel is about to fall off cause the tape the bottom of the mini van up that is RUsted out and painted over it and I gald I made it Home saftey But THIS is Not RIGHT!!!

You should not have gone to an auction.

I can't believe you went to an auction:You didn't understand the fees and costsYou Didn't understand that auction cars are dumped at auction for needing repairs beyond that are economically reasonable to fix. Those who buy inexpensive cars at auction are usually recyclers after parts. You didn't go once and not buy to understand the process and costsAuction cars are "as is" unless stated, and You, as the bidder, were warned to check and insure you understood what you are bidding on.And finally once you ripped yourself off you are complaining about the auction house, they just sold the van, they didn't own it, inspect it, or make any promises on its condition. Any person that has ever gone to an auction knows that the auctioneer uses phrases such as nice, clean, pretty, low milage, runs good and they are not enforceable descriptions under the law.Buying at auction can be rewarding, next time figure out how it works before you prove yourself foolish on this site.

you don't have all the information either

The people there do not have dealers in this auction with the public, therefore, there is no need for high bidding. The bidding starts fairly high and goes down. I'm sure the woman did not "mistake" her bid. I was ripped off by these people too. I do not think it is fair for you to blame the woman for this at all. Read my review posted the other day! It was 4 typed pages almost and it is going to be turned in to the attorney generals office and the secretary of state for the Illinois department of police and any other place that I feel needs to know. This auction is a public auction. They have false advertising everywhere and it is a big scam. Please do not be insulting by telling this woman she is lucky for getting 100$ back...do you work for the auction house?? Just curious how someone who "knows so much" is so quick to judge and blame the consumer.

The company does not have all the hidden fees on the "paddle". Every person who goes to this auction gets skrewed. I am not disabled. I did ask questions...no one answers. There are a few fees included in the small print...nothing near what they actually charge you.

Wondering

They are actually in Harvey, next to Dolton. What does your paper work on the sale say? My guess is you bid more than you thought, $3200 would make your math correct.
You are lucky they gave you back $100. Normally all sales are final and deposits are non refundable. They let you out of the deal for $500.
That paper is called a paddle, you raise it when you want to bid. Are you sure you didn't raise it to the $3200 point?
Big question, did you have someone with you to check out the car? Very few cars at Auctions are buy them and drive flaw free. The ones that are worth buying, you have to bid more than the used car guy who thinks he can make money from it.

I won a bid on a car for $2,100.00. Very shortly after I had won my bid, I was told by one of their agent that I must give him $600.00 deposit, and to come back later that day at 3:00pm to pay my bal. and get my car. Please understand that I disable and has some slight mental problem. also I am not a good reader. Before the Auction, they gave me this pice of paper and I thought it was a pass to enter the auction. They called this pice of paper a padder. it did have some small writting on it. I was told to hold it up when I bid..
When I came back at 3:00 pm. I was shocked to learn that I needed $2600.00 to pay off my bal. He told I could not get the car, and to call him about my $600.00 deposit. I came back and I cry in tears because I knew I was not going to replace my own car that was total in a accident. The insurance sent me a check for: $2231.00 to get me another car. After three days of phones calls to them, they finally gave me a check fo: $100.00 and I had to pay $5.00 to cash it at their Harris Bank. Please help.

What help?

I don't think there is anything that anyone can help you with. If you are disabled you should have asked for assistance before entering into a transaction that you did not understand. Sorry to say, but you are most likely out of luck. Consider this a lesson learned. Don't enter into any transactions before you (or your representative) reads all the terms and conditions.
