Tiny place that turns out big taste! by Michelle P. at InsiderPages

A great hidden gem downtown. While the whole pizzas aren't a bargain, you can get a slice for about $3, and that's enough for me at lunch. Authentic New York style pizzas and calzones. The restaurant itself is tiny, and the line at lunch snakes around, so be prepared!

Mama Mia !!! It's Rosa's

1 slice of spinach, 1 slice of mushroom, and I am good to go. This is my favorite pizza in the city. I don't eat pork, but tomatoes, onions or even sun dried tomatoes all make for a pleasant pizza eating experience. Even with a crowded lunch line wrapped around the whole store and down the stairs, the ordering process is different , but finely tuned to get you in and out. Next!!! Price is cool, store is old but relatively clean. Rosa's is my spot.

Pros
+ Great pizza, quick

Cons
- No weekends, and closes at 6pm

Going to Gsu, eating down town in between classes is hard. Growing up in Long Island. I know real pizza. There pizza is good. But, When I see an employee sneeze and not wash his hands and contunue to make pizza. Makes me want to run as fast as I can from this place.

Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing! The Best In Atlanta!

I've lived in NYC and Chicago, and never in a million years did I think pizza like this would be found in Atlanta. And boy was I wrong. I had to take my son down to GSU for registration and books, and we stopped into Rosa's. Just perfect. No frills, just a hole-in-the wall near Georgia State. But when we walked in, and smelled the pizza, I knew something good was coming our way. This is the real thing, with real Italian's working behind the counter. Thin crust, great maranara, and too much cheese. Just the way I like it. You do not need toppings, but the Italian Sausage is very good.

Pros
+ Authentic NYC Italian Pizza! Best In Atlanta!

CLOSE

As a NY transplant and being accused of being a "Pizza Snob" I can state without hesitation that Rosa's is the closest thing you will get to NY style pizza here in Atlanta. If you know what makes a good pizza (thin crust, little sauce, lots of cheese and olive oil) then you get it. The only criticism I have with Rosa's is that they need to "tweak" the sauce a bit.

Pros
+ Pizza

Cons
- Parking

Bit of NY in ATL

Couldn't wait to try when I hear all of the reviews of best NY pizza. They are right. Night thin crispy crust a bit of saucce and nicely melted cheese, don;t need toppings. Calzone's good dough and sauce on side; used to more ricotta with the nice hint of mozarella, they reverse it but still good.

If you like the generic non-pizza of Pizza Hut go across the street, if you want excellent pizza go here. Don;t come for the atmosphere it is all about the pizza

Ok. If you like gressy oily pizza. Check this place out. Very well done crust. Great location. Staff was a bit pushey. Deffently not going to go back.

Pros
+ nothing

Cons
- go elsewhere

Thank you, proximity

I have this disabling/annoying condition- you see, I absolutely love pizza, down to the very core of me (namely, my belly), but I can only enjoy certain kinds (namely, 'good' or 'very well-made'). I go to GSU, and decided to try this place out as I was walking to Aderhold for a class. So many non-New York states try to get the New York pizza right, and fail miserably (e.g. a pizza place a couple blocks away). Rosa's not only delivers a superb New York style pizza, but offers great prices for what you are getting (huge cheesy goodness). I HIGHLY recommend everyone stop by at least once.

Pros
+ pizza

Little Italy In Downtown ATL!

Everyone knows when you go to NYC, you go to Little Italy for homestyle pizza and Mama's other favorites. When you are in DT-ATL, do yourself a favor, and get in line, at this hole-in-the wall. When you finally get inside to place your order at the counter, you will think you are in Little Italy. Just the best NYC pizza this side of the Mason-Dixon line! Crispy slices the way you like. My favorite is a variation of a slice, called a Sausage Roll. Italian sausage, cheese, peppers, onions, and sauce rolled-up in pizza dough and baked. One of my all time favorite sand/pizza items anywhere.

Get your food and head outside to one of the many tables on the sidewalk. Students, businessmen, office workers, and any one else wanting a taste of The Big Apple!

Pros
+ Best NYC Pizza In The ATL!

Cons
- Can't get my order fast enough!

Only good if you like New York pizza...

Rosa's is the closet pizza to NYC pizza in Atlanta. The crust is harder, the toppings fresh, and the slices large. It's also greasy, and flavorful! I highly recommend Rosa's to anyone from the north.

Cons
- long lines

What do these guys know?

Just want to place a rebuttle against those guys who wrote bad reviews about Rosa's. Being from an area where a good pie means something.... Just gotta say that those bad reviews come from people who wouldn't know a good pizza if it slapped them upside the head! Rosa's is the best in Atlanta. No doubt! Any New Yorkers, Bostonion, or anyone else from the northeast who is dying for a good pizza needs to know that Atlanta does, in fact, have one good pizzaria. If you think I'm wrong, check out the lines out the door everyday. It's the only real pizza town. ENJOY!

Nothing Special

So I read, from the many reviews, that Rosa's is the best. So, being the pizza fanatic I am, I tried it. It was nothing great. I'm from the midwest, and we have pizza chains in our malls like Luca Pizza, Pizza di Roma, and Enzo's pizza, which are all VERY similar to Rosa; plus, they're not served to you by a hairy fat guy.
The place is very dirty, old, and could benefit from some remodeling if they do the business they claim. It's good pizza, but it isn't great pizza. I've had many extremely similar; Sbarro comes to mind.

Oh yah, and someone mentioned something about the grease. It's called New York Style.....eat pizza much?

Pros
+ good food, price

Cons
- filthy, location, service

Grease Dough

My co-workers LOVE Rosa's, so when I first came to work downtown, I was constantly dragged to the area to get some of the coveted pizza. At first, I went along with it - and one day I realized what the problem was - the stuff is LOADED with grease. I could put a whole stack of napkins on top of it and STILL have grease dripping off. Never attempt to order a pizza and take back to the office, the lid stuck to the top of the pizza - the grease was like a magnet to the box top and it was OVER!

Pros
+ Inexpensive, Good for downtown

Cons
- Greasy, LONG lines

Best Pizza Ever!

Rosa's pizza is simply fantastic. You must get the in-store slices for the best deal (so they remain hot and crispy). Worth the often longer-than-20-person line. This stuff is pizza from heaven.

Pros
+ taste, crust, cheeeese

Cons
- , busy, n/a

Wow!

It is above and beyond all of the rest---Words cant describe the delicious taste of the homemade sauce and dough!!! If you have never experienced Rosa's pizza--Well, I gotta say you are missing out! I guess these Georgia people have never had the real NY thing!

Pros
+ Inexpensive, Line moves quickly, pure heaven!

THANK YOU ROSA'S!!!

I am a True Pizza lover from the North and after going from pizza place to pizza place I finally found a true New York Pizza shop. It has it all. It's a small mom and pops restaurant that provide the BEST biggest Pizzas I have found since I have been in the ATL. Dont be fooled by those large chains and fancy pizza restaurans cause they do NOT compare to Rosa's at all.

Pure Heaven!

2.5 hour drive from Columbus just to eat pizza at Rosa's! Cheaper and much better than Mellow Mushroom. Far out-classes Pappa John's and other fast-food pizza joints. And they don't skip on the add-ons!

Pros
+ Style, Taste, Experience

Cons
- Parking, Seating

What do they from pizza in ATL

You have got to be kidding--Rosa's rated lower than Pizza Hut and and Papa John's? Why don't you folks in this town just get some white bread and spread ketchup and american cheese. You guys should be knee capped. Rosa's is good stuff--great stuff for this town. There is actually texture to the crust (sorry Papa John's) and the cheese was actually mozzarella (what the hell is that stuff on Pizza Hut). There is ambience similar to NY not some homogenized chain store.
