Avoid This Place

My girlfriend and I decided to see what they have in the way of engagement rings. We didn't find anything we liked and the person waiting on us was not friendly and didn't smile the whole time. We ended up going to the Los Angeles jewelry district up north. We had an endless choice of jewelers like there were hundreds of them and we found exactly what we were looking for. We got a great deal on a 1 carat diamond ring.

Pros
+ None

Cons
- Unfriendly Employees & Not Really Good Deals

Attitude to Gratitude!

Okay, so maybe I had a bit of an attitude before going in because of some negative things I read on the web so I was wary. We were greeted right away, took their number, I couldn't believe how busy they were, no holiday to account for it. Bottom line, they were very helpful, showed us different rings wirh different diamonds, stayed in our price range and insisted we use their eye piece so we would know about every diamond we looked at. I was still alittle scared, its a big deal spending so much on one item but they actually sugggested we have a seat across the room so we could talk privately. All my fiance could say was "look ..I saw your face when you put that last ring on, whats there to think about" and I looked around this huge place with all those customers and thought to myself "forget those reviews, people only write them when they don't get their way.. and I really DO want that ring!!" I went home that same day with my dream ring with a bigger diamond and money left over. I told myself that this time I am going to take the time to write about a great experience. A few bad reviews in relation to how busy they were on just one day is nothing...do like we did...check it out for yourself.

Pros
+ Diamond selection, customer service and best prices

New customer problems ordering online and via Internet

I ordered a diamond engagement ring via the Internet. Trust is a very important aspect for any company providing products over the Internet.

I was actually feeling pretty good about my decision, at least until I called the day before the day was was going to propose. I called to check on the status of my order. I want to make sure that it was on its way, and when I could expect it to be delivered. I reached a lady in customer service. She told me that the diamond I requested was actually sold to someone else before I ordered, and I would not be receiving anything. Well naturally, I went ballistic (wouldn?t you?). She was very nice to listen to my ranting for several minutes. I was obviously very upset. She indicated that you had several stones similar to the one I ordered and this shouldn?t be a problem.

After a few minutes, however, this became a clear this was a problem. They did not have a similar size stone in color and clarity (and price). She identified a small stone she told me was ?very nice? and ?better in quality than the one I ordered?. I really wanted one with the same characteristics (specifically size) as the one I had previously tied to order. This was VERY frustrating. I was still very unhappy. Why? I had to call. No one had the courtesy to call me to let me know about the problem with my order.

Her boss called me back later, and we had a conversation about ?my? problem. Basically he made a lot of excuses about the situation and told me if I ?didn?t like their solution? I should ?take my business elsewhere? (now that is a very strange customer service approach). One of the other posters said the same thing. Business must be so good that they send customers away, or this is special corporate policy.

I would be VERY careful with this company ordering online or via phone. The supervisor would not give me his bosses name; always a bad sign.

Pros
+ Prices good

Cons
- Customer Service is terrible over phone and online. Can not be trusted to send what was ordered.

I was beyond impressed actually! This place was wonderful!

My most recent (one of many) experiences at the Jewelry Exchange was actually much to the contrary of the other reviews I found on this website.

I was greeted by a very nice gentlemen, who happened to be sharply dressed, right as I walked in the door. He shook my hand, and asked what he, if anything, he could help me with. I told him that I needed some assistance in having my wedding ring worked on.

My ring is approaching 20 years old now, and was in pretty bad shape. My wife and I have been married for a long time, and this ring hold immense sentimental value to me

It is a yellow gold band with blue sapphires down the middle, and two rows of channel set diamonds on either side of the sapphires. Two or three of the diamonds were missing, and I could tell that a few of the sapphires were beginnng to come loose. The ring was beyond scratched, in every which way you can think of, and the band had become misformed, and no longer formed a perfect circle.

I was put into contact with another very very polite gentlemen from the repairs department of the store. I explained to him what was wrong with the ring (not that most of it was not apparent to the untrained eye) and explained to him what all I would like done. He told me that it was not a problem, and said that he would have the ring back to me in two working days.

Two days later, I got a phone call saying that my ring was ready for pick up. I went to the store, and was again greeted very politely by lobby employees.

I picked my ring up, and was ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY! It looked brand new! I could still tell it was my ring obviously, but it was completely fixed! Missing diamonds replaced, scratches repaired, and the ring was reformed like the day we bought it! The repair costs were extremely minimal, and it looked great! I just can not say enough! They even put it in a ring box and a bag for me! It was GREAT!

If you want to buy gorgeous jewelry, or fix what ya got, this is the place!!!!

Pros
+ Great lobby employees, quick turnaround time, great location, easy to find

Cons
- none to mention really, I was very impressed

Thank you for all the reviews, mostly negative...You saved me the gas money and the aggravation of going to that place. I like to hold gold in my hand. I bought a bracelet once and it was HOLLOW super LIGHT. N ice looking and if i ever wanted to sell it, it wouldn't be a problem like something plated.

Poor quality jewelery and customer service

I have never been to such a tacky jewelyry store. You must pick a number in order to get help... no number no service! The customer service was horrible!!! There are only a few people are helping at the cases and the rest of the staff is standing around talking. The sales staff are unprofessional and very unfriendly. I was in the store for amost a half hour and was never greeted or even acknowledged by anyone who worked there. Their jewelery is ugly too. A majority of their pieces are outdated and look like something your grandmother would wear. The sparkling jewlery they advertise in their tv commercials look like ugly brown rocks in real life. I would be embarassed to wear one of their pieces. Prices are not much better than you will find in a fine jewelry store. Take your money elsewhere and avoid Tustin Jewelry exchange....not worth the drive!

Pros
+ none

Cons
- way too many to list

Don't go to Jewelry Exchange in Tustin - poor customer service

I was very disappointed with my visit to the Jewelry Exchange today. I had always heard their ads and drove in from Long Beach. I had loose diamonds( 8 smaller round) and I wanted to look at their gold ring settings. For security purposes, they only allow you to look through the counter glass at the setting assortment. The only problem with that is the intense glare from the overhead store lighting. You have to literally place your head foreward almost over the glass and shadow the top portion to properly see the ring settings. It was ridiculous. I complained and spoke to store personnel and then the store manager. He said that if I did not like the store policy, I could leave. I did just that. I will never go to that store again.

Pros
+ Lot of store employees

Cons
- Poor customer service - no flexibility

Bad customer service after the sale.

At first doing business with these jewelers was a pleasant experience. They spent a lot of time helping me select the perfect setting and the perfect diamond for an engagement ring/wedding band. I assume now that they went through all this trouble only to get the sale. This company does not back their products. After about six months a small diamond fell out of the engagement ring setting due to a broken prong. I took the ring back and had the diamond replaced. After 14 months of the purchase another of the small stones fell out of the wedding band due to a broken prong. We had only been married for two months, hence my wife has only been wearing the wedding band for two months, but since the ring was actually purchased more than a year before they refused to replace the stone saying it was out of warranty. They blamed the missing stone on my wife saying she is too rough with it. My wife is a very dainty lady. However, I have spoken with many women since who are not dainty and have not had had a problem with losing stones(they did not purchase from the Jewelry Source.) After hours spent in the store working with suddenly rude and unhelpful salesmen as well as on the phone to their corporate headquarters the small stone was finally replaced. We were told that they would no longer fix the defective ring at their cost after this. Every salesman and everyone at their corporate headquarters are trained to blame defects on the customer. It is almost comical. I would not recommend this jeweler to anyone much less my friends and family. Caveat emptor. Buyer beware.

Worst Quality Jewelry in America

I used to work in a jewelry store so I know a lot about this industry. Having seen their commercials for years (and no longer being in the business - hence no more employee discount), I decided to check out the Jewelry Exchange for a Valentine's gift for my wife. First of all, beware, because the "consultants" claim to not work on commission, but I happen to know that they instead work on "bonuses," so they put incredible pressure on you to buy. Believe me, it is more fun buying a used car than it is to buy a diamond or other piece of jewelry at the Jewelry Exchange.Even more importantly (at least to me) is that I looked at dozens of pieces and was truly amazed at the poor quality. As a "factory," the Jewelry Exchange makes their own jewelry, but it is worse than the cheapest goods coming out of the Asia. The metal is very thin and uses a tiny percentage of gold (I can tell by doing a "scratch test" an old jewelers secret). But even worse, it the quality of their diamonds. They advertise low prices because they "import direct." But that is bogus... 99.99% of all diamonds sold in this country are "imported direct." What the Jewelry Exchange does, is sell ugly, brown, dirty diamonds - hoping that the unsuspecting public is stupid enough to buy them. And the store lighting is set up so that the diamonds look better than they will in real life. The reason that the Jewelry Exchange is successful, is that they hope their commercials will drive the customer into the store, where their high-pressure salesmen will try to convince you that the ugly, cheaply made garbage they are peddling is worth your money. One quick way to know that the Jewelry Exchange themselves knows that they sell the worst possible jewelry, is their return notice. Buyer beware! The Jewelry Exchange has a NO REFUND policy!I think this alone is amazing, and very insightful to their business practices. Any other reputable jeweler will offer a satisfaction guarantee. In fact, out of all the major jewelry stores, only the Jewelry Exchange refuses to give you back your money... they force you into a "credit," which you can only use to get some other piece of garbage jewelry in their store. So do yourself a favor and STAY AWAY from the Jewelry Exchange!

False and Misleading Advertising

I had a diamond solitaire I wanted to upgrade, and given that the store is called Jewelry Exchange- I thought this would be the place to go. At the store (after an hour drive) we were told they used to do exchanges 30 years ago (!), and now they only exchnage jewelry purchased from them. Two things with that regard. First, it is false advertising that is punishable by law, not to mention it is ridiculous. When you go to a restaurant, do you only get served if you have eaten there before??? Second, if the nature of your business changed over the years, CHANGE YOUR NAME to Jewelry Warehouse for example. Take your business and money elsewhere.

Don't Get Your Feelings Hurt!

I had no problem with the large warehouse style jewelery store, it's like Costco for stones and settings. I heard a few bad rumors, when i went to check it out, I thought how bad could it be? I was introduced to two nice ladies, not pushy, not intimidating. Totally helped me find the ring i was looking for within my budget. The same rings i found elsewhere were 4-5 times the price, with the same color and clarity! Don't get your feelings hurt if the sales consultants don't take the time to pamper you, think of it as a favor. My recommendation is to have an idea about what your looking for when you go in, and you will do fine.

Terrible Customer Service

We purchased a diamond ring from these crooks online, which arrived damaged(a huge chip in the diamond), and looked like it had been worn. We called customer service and spoke to five people before we found someone that was willing to help. They sent out a replacement ring and were suppose to send a prepaid mailer for the first ring. We never received the mailer and the replacement ring was as damaged as the first. Again we had to speak to many reps. before we were assured that a mailer would be sent immediately. It's been 11 days since then and no mailer. My credit card company has withheld payment until I'm satisfied. Save money and go elsewhere.

Perhaps it was just the rep

I just went to the Jewelry Exchange to purchase a diamond thinking I might be able to get a better deal than from the jeweler I was working with. The rep was so deceitful about diamond info and the price was quite a bit more than I had been quoted for a hearts and arrows diamond...at least $1,000 more! Thank goodness I educated myself from the internet and had talked to a few jewelers before I went there. The diamond he showed me also looked awful...very dull with so many incisions yet he said it was $4,200 and if I wanted a diamond with GIA it would cost me $1,000 more. I was so upset since I knew either he didn't think I knew anything and wanted to rip me off or just didn't care to work with me and wanted to get rid of me. The other reps there seemed nicer so I'm hoping it was just the rep.

The prices here are fantastic, especially for loose diamonds. I always compare prices before I buy jewelry, and the Jewelry Exchange has always had the best price for the quality. I recommend this store to all of my friends who are thinking about getting engaged. You might have to wait a while to get help, but it is worth the time.

Great Prices

In searching for an engagement ring we heard great things about The Jewelry Exchange. Being a contemporary girl their settings didn't appeal much to me but they offer fabulous prices on loose diamonds. But the great ones go very quickly so if you're looking to propose head there soon. You won't be sorry.
