Used to Be Great Service and Food Didn't Change, But . . .

Papa Tony . . . R.I.P. I grew up in CV . . . now live a little north of it. We still come down to CV once in a while. I still remember when we used to kick it at the bar, and Papa Tony would be there, handing us a couple of beers. But I regret to say that since Papa Tony's passing, things haven't been the same. Service (most important) is not that great. We even did a test . . . three phone orders, to see how many they'd mess up. Guess? All three. And on the last one, they acted as if we were the ones who ordered wrong! Wow. Anyway, the things that still taste the same: wings, calzone, egg salad sandwich. The food didn't change that much. Except that the veal parmesan dinner looks like a TV dinner, and the fried zucchini doesn't look homemade anymore. Until they get the gift card system fixed, do not get a gift card. This place used to be the best . . . now their people can use a little bit of adjustment, maybe . . . just maybe.

Never Never Go Back!

I had reserved the cafe on 10/6/07 from 6:30-8:30 for 40 people. ‎ WhenIi showed up 15 minutes early, I was greeted with rudeness, yelling, cussing; they were very unprofessional, and all around disgusting. First, the manager told me I was ‎mistaken, I did not have a reservation. Then, when I showed him the paperwork ‎that was given to me, he complained that I was early, and asked, what did I expect. I told ‎him that I would gladly wait the 15 minutes but would that change anything? He said ‎no. Then he proceeded to tell me, "I know your kind." Then he said if I made the ‎reservation, it does not mean that I had reserved the area. I had my guests standing behind me, with more on the way. Near the end, my options were to go ‎next door and let the kids run back and forth, or cram 40 guests into an area that holds 20-25. Just to let you know this company ruined my daughter's ‎birthday. I have been a long time customer, but I will never go back. ‎

La Bella's is the place to go when you want that extra special indulgence. Besides the food tasting out of this world, the service is outstanding. Go treat yourself and your family to a wonderful family night at La Bella's.

Best Pizza @ Moderate Price

We recently went there on a Thursday night, which was a football night. The place was packed with fans watching the game. It was a fun atmosphere, if that's your cup of tea. Anyway, we ordered "The Works" which was a huge pizza with tons of great toppings. It wasn't cheap by pizza standards, but it was so filling we ate the leftovers for a few days. The pizza was probably not the healthiest choice on the menu, but it was worth the splurge.

Food Is Great

After eating Italian food frequently in NYC, I've finally found a restaurant which has really good-tasting Italian food. I had Manicotti Parmagiana with a meatball. It was served smoking hot and it was so tasty. Unfortunately the hot tea was not very hot. Maybe the water was heated in a microwave. The waitress could have been friendlier, but at least she was efficient and served our party of twelve competently. She could have smiled at least once. Prices for meals here are low and ambience is passable, especially if you like old photos of baseball players. The large surrealistic looking mural on the wall needs to be hung straight.

Still the Best Pizza in Town

I was once a cashier at La Bella's and since moving to Georgia, I have searched the surrounding areas for pizza even remotely close to La Bella...I only wish Joe Raso could FedEx one to me.

Best Pizza @ the Best Price

Long time family owned restaurant has served Chula Vista since the mid-50s. Excellent mid-thickness crust, cheese over style pizza. They are generous with the toppings and each topping is top-notch in quality. If you love pizza, you must try La Bella's.
