Don't expect too much by kim u. at InsiderPages

Inside this museum was smaller than it looked from the outside. there wasn't as much installation art as i thought there would be, but some of them were quite interesting. i like the fact that admission is free every thursday from 5-8pm. No one should have to pay to see a few art works in this small museum. i was in and out within an hour.

PROS:
CONS: Parking is not free.

Repelling Atmosphere showered in Inspirational Masterpieces by Washington I. at InsiderPages

Don't get me wrong, art is art. But some art is just plain UGLY. So goes the story at the Museum of contemporary Art, or MOCA as its come to be known among youthful Urbanites of the Suburbs of LA.

Certainly, being an art-inspired individual whose work relies on never before seen creativity, coming here was an obligation. However, if you have a choice, don't even bother approaching MOCA.

ON OCASSION there are some exhibits that one may find marginally interesting, such as the Andy Warhol through the Ages exhibit featured here a few years back.

The staff knows what they are talking about, so at least in that sense one can hold a somewhat intelligent conversation.

Modern Arts by David K. at InsiderPages

The museum of Contemporary Arts houses new exhibitions all the time as well as its permanent collection. There are always interesting art pieces and exhibits that are out of the world.

This is one place that probably shouldn't be missed if you're into more contemporary types of arts. They also have a special 'night' tour that goes on certain nights.

I thought parking would be better.. and then the staff's attitude also stunk. I was pretty disappointed. Dont think I will make it back anytime soon. I'm pretty sad about that.. I love art, and I also love downtown.

A good contemporary museum

This museum downtown has an unusual architectural design as you walk down steps anddescend underground to view the work. The quality of the exhibitions has varied greatly over the years but the space is quite large and has nice gallery spaces for displaying the work. There is a nice gift shop with a lot of hard to find books and periodicals and a nice outdoor courtyard with a fountain. It is nice to spend some time in the courtyard especially when they offer free live music in the summer on designated days.
