Best Buffet Value in Las Vegas

For value, good food and comfortable uncrowded admosphere the Main Street Station's Garden Court Buffet cannot be surpassed. Virtually the same food as the dinner buffet is available for lunch with a large variety of regional and ethnic foods available. An ample salad bar, two choices of home-made type soups, a decent meat cutting selection, fish, several chicken choices and vegetables are always available. A good choice of desserts is on hand to top off a wonderful lunch. Come hungry, sample the variety and chow down until the oxtail stew is gone.

Pros
+ Spacious, easy help yourself food service and unhurried atmosphere.

Cons
- Occasional noisy children.

If you find yourself downtown and hungry, this is the place for you. This is a big buffet with quite a selection. Definitely something for everyone. I would suggest checking out the whole buffet first before digging in or you may miss out on something.

Great Atmosphere by kar r. at InsiderPages

The Garden Court Buffet at the Main Street Station hotel and casino is an intimate buffet experience if that is possible in a facility that seats 500. The decor in the dining room is old turn of the century train station motif in a Victorian gingerbread style. The food selection is fantastic and our favorite was the crab legs. The buffet is next door to the casino which also has the train station feel and is very different from much of Las Vegas. This buffet is worth the drive from the strip to downtown Las Vegas.

Satisfies the hunger

If you're sitting around the Union Station waiting for a train or someone to get off a train...there are few places to eat if you're hungry. I recommend Union Bagel. It's a quick meal...and a place to sit separate from the hustle and bustle...although still right in the middle of it all.

Good buffet for the price

In all the years that I've been going to Vegas, it's always interesting to find and experience a new buffet. However, old tried and true standards usually give you excellent value. The Garden Court Buffet at the Main Street Station in downtown was always one of our staple buffets. I have to say that the variety of their menu at dinner is excellent. They have great options on the fresh seafood bar, crab legs, raw oysters, oysters Rockefeller, clams casino, steamed clams, and peel-n-eat shrimp. Additionally, there are always 2-3 carving options...this list time we visited, beef brisket, italian sausage, and ham. There are tons of vegetable options as well from the salad bar to the side dishes like steamed broccoli or green beans. There are also barbecue options, latin options and even a "Pacific Rim" set of offerings. Of course, there is the 4-sided refrigerated dessert bar. There are even no-sugar added options. I have to say that even though I was not 100% impressed with the quality of the food overall this time, I defintely say it's still one of the good standard buffets in town...and definitely the BEST buffet downtown. I recommend it as an option to some of the insanely expensive buffets around town.

The best buffet in Fremont

Even though it is the only buffet I've been to in Fremont I'm not going to go anywhere else, they have exactly what I want in a buffet. Great food, quick beverage service, and the price is great. $13 for dinner** Except on Steak and Seafood nights its a little more. I started at one end but never made it all away around it is a huge buffet. Didn't even realize there was a salad bar until we left. The desserts were not that great, but you can't beat make your own sundaes.

Nice varity

I very much enjoyed this buffet. It has plenty of options for all tastes. The price is resonable unlike many of the buffets on the strip that charge more than resurants where you actually get waited on. I will be back next time I'm in town.

Pros
+ Lots of choices

Cons
- Would like to see more meat dishes

at Main Street Station

This buffet has been setting raising the bar for buffet's for a long time. Their main dishes and desserts are always superior. The salad bar could use some attention. If you are a buffet hound and Downtown this is one of the best buffets in the district. And if you walk out the south side of the casino you can be where they filmed the beginning and end of the movie Casino.

Pros
+ Small main dishes mean always fresh

Cons
- Salad bar could improve

Not again by Jane S. at InsiderPages

I stayed here once, and found it very difficult to sleep because of the noise. The room was good sized and clean, and the rate was great. I enjoyed the restaurant food. Since the main reason I stay at a hotel is to sleep, I would not stay here again.

Old fashioned fun by Ryan M. at InsiderPages

Located away from the Strip in the downtown Las Vegas area, Main Street Station uses an old-fashioned train station theme. Inside you'll find the typical array of gaming machines and lively table games.

The Triple 7 Brewery offers reasonably priced meals and seems to be of a higher quality (and ambiance) relative to the typical downtown casino's coffee shop. My mushroom burger tasted great and the fries were fresh out of the fryer.

Main Street is connected to the adjacent California Hotel, so you can visit both casinos without stepping outside.

If you stay in the hotel, one thing to note is the rooms are not equipped with hair dryers. Instead, youll need to reserve one from a pool of shared hair dryers, a surprising inconvenience.

Cheap Drinks, Penny slots by Alexandria M. at InsiderPages

The drinks inside the Triple 7 bar were cheap, as was the food. I played the slots here, including the penny slots, and actually got a small payout! I like that they have older machines. It gives it a nice feel. No one is too pretentious.

A new landmark

Union Station will probably never be as famous as Grand Central Station in NYC, but it's our own landmark train station. Now that the MetroLink and MTA are making good use of it, improving it's look and upgrading the local transit system, Union Station has become a NEW landmark. More people travel through there than ever before. I think if they added a couple more restaurants, even a fast food place or two, it would become an even bigger highlight of downtown.

I recently traveled Amtrak to Seattle, and again was awed by the beautiful decor of this station. As they have unused space (often used for filiming purposes), they could easily expand the entertainment/dining options in the local area. The small Traxx restaurant is nice, but an alternative would be a welcome addition.

Pros
+ history, conveniently located

Cons
- crowded at rush times

Beautiful and Unexpected

I was floored by the beauty of Union Station, the tiled floors and the wonderful waiting room, the service, the beautiful patio. I thought most downtown train stations were dirty and grim. LA's is a gorgeous gateway to a city
