Tourist Fare

Skooby's hotdogs are nothing to write home about. It seems as if that is exactly what they intend for you to do after eating there. Located in the tourist district off Hollywood Blvd, this little dog stand serves up merely a decent dog to toursits wandering up down the star imbeded walk of fame. The garlic fries are soggy yet nicely drenched in garlic. The dogs themselves are on the small side for the price and are typical in every respect. Pinks or Carney's or Taste Chicago (If u want to make the drive) are the better choices. Parking can also be a problem at times. IF you are in the hood and feel like a hotdog fix Skooby's will fit the bill, but if you are looking for a truly delicious dog go elsewhere.

Pros
+ Hotdogs of course, and good lemonaide

Cons
- parking and crowds

I disovered Skooby's 2 years ago and I have to say that the fries and garlic/roasted pepper mayo dipping sauce is heavenly!

The hotdogs are very good, better then Pink's that is for sure! But the fries and lemonade are what keep me from coming back when I get a craving for junk! Yum:)

Pros
+ Good hotdogs, Delicious Fries and garlic/roasted pepper mayo

Cons

After a night of margaritas in Hollywood (at L'Scorpion) on a weekday, there are few places better than Skooby's for cheap, greasy, late-night grub to sober up to . . .

Wash down the best fries and hot dogs in L.A. with a pint of homemade lemonade as you take in the fascinating sea of Hollywood Boulevard foot traffic.

This is one of the best spots in L.A. for a quick cheap bite. The fries are out of this world. If hot dogs aren't your thing, just go and have these fries. Forget Jar or In-n-Out; these fries are king. The slightly toasted hot dog buns always taste like they were just baked. The homemade lemonade compliments it all perfectly.

The employees (mostly attractive young local rock scenesters) are very friendly. However, do not expect fast-food speed as the process of transforming raw fresh potatoes into amazing fries right before your eyes requires several steps.

Seating is mainly at tables outdoors on the sidewalk. The location is very busy with all varieties of Hollywood foot traffic. The prim BMW folk will probably feel uneasy. The blaring music is mostly indie/punk rock, which I happen to love, but my parents would probably hate.

Pros
+ Amazing french fries, homemade lemonade, and tasty hot dogs on freshly baked buns.

Cons
- Some may find ambience too edgy.

Skooby's Hot Dogs, Hollywood and Hermosa Beach

Last Saturday after seeing a great Clap Your Hands Say Yeah show at the Henry Fonda, I was determined to find some food before I made my way home. One of my friends has often described me as resolute, and at least when it comes to food that much is true: I wanted a chili cheese dog and by god I was going to have one. Lucky for me, not only does Skooby's stay open till all hours of the night (3 am on weekends), they make an excellent and dare I say high quality chili dog. Both the dog and bun are custom made for Skooby's and the fries they make are hand-cut--much like the ones at In N Out--and served with a roasted red pepper aioli. Take that, Pinks. My only complaint was that they don't take credit cards and so I had to wander up Hollywood Blvd at 1 am checking various tattoo parlos and bondage gear shops for an ATM. Still, a person could do a lot worse than to end up at Skooby's after a late night out in Hollywood. As for why you'd be out at all in Hermosa Beach, you're on your own.

Skooby's

WOW what a great surprise. After the disaster that was Taste Chicago, I go to Skooby's. But since it's a Friday night on Hollywood Blvd, parking can be and was a pain in the butt. It was terrible. Next time I go and I will go back soon it will take the Re

Chili Cheese Fries To Die For!!!!

The chili cheddar fries are to die for!!!! They serve you a HUGE portion heaped with chili and fresh cheddar cheese - you couldn't possibly eat it all. The chili doesn't have beans and has just the right amount of spice. The lemonade tastes freshly squeezed and not too sweet, which is how lemonade should be. I will definitely be going back whenever the craving hits me! Parking is aggravating, but worth it.

Pros
+ Food, Service, Lemonade

Cons
- Parking

Best Dogs in L.A.!!

Definitely the best hot dog stand in L.A. The dogs don't spew out oil when you bite into them (unlike that "other" hot dog stand) and their fries are ultra-fresh. The garlic spread in the hot dog bun is only second to Zankou Chicken's. Definitely hits the spot after hitting a bar on Hollywood Boulevard!

Pros
+ Value, Quality, Taste

Cons
- Parking

Good dogs!

This is a tiny, but fun place to grab some grub. The dogs and fries are made fresh as is the lemonade. They use a seasoned salt for the fries to give them a little extra zip. Open late, so if you're on Hollywood Blvd. while bar-hopping, this is a great pit-stop.

Pros
+ Tasty, Fresh food

Cons
- tiny

Dogs with character, right on Hollywood Boulevard

Pinks, schminks. For a bona fide dog in Hollywood, this is the place -- right on the Walk of Fame. Try the Guinness chili cheddar dog, and don't forget the hand-cut fries. Wash it down with an Arnold Palmer: Skoobylicious!
