Virginia Tea Society visits Rowena's

I am the Director of The Virginia Tea Society. We held our September meeting along with a fabulous tea at Rowena's and it was beyond belief. I had spoken with Andrea, the pastry chef several times arranging the tea and she made sure Rowena's lived up to it's name. There was comforting music playing in the background, beautifully set tables with a vase of fresh flowers on each and a wonderful atmosphere. It was the best tea, in this area, that I have had the opportunity of attending. We were offered bottomless pots of loose teas: Earl Grey, Liz's Blend, Apricot and Raspberry along with three decaf's: English Breakfast, Green and Orange Spice along with milk or lemon slices and sugar cubes in a swan shaped container with tongs. We were also offered goblets of water with lemon and glasses of sparkling cider. There were five types of sandwiches - two halves of each, cherry tomatos, two scones served with lemon curd, Devonshire clotted cream and assorted jams, three slices of Rowena's's famous cakes, three slices of various melons, strawberries, kiwi's, grapes, and two hersey kisses. All of this was served on three tier trays...not one for each table but one three tier tray for each guest. It was just everything you expect at a Royal Tea and beyond. They even provided containers for take home delights. It was simply Marvelous!!! I recommend this Tea Room highly to everyone who reads this review. Thank you Rowena, Andrea and staff for a remarkable event! We will certainly be back soon! Aurora Livingston, Director, Virginia Tea Society, www.virginiateasociety.com

classy and elegant by Jennifer E. at InsiderPages

Rowenas is a local bakery and teahouse that won me over from the first visit. Their baked goods are scrumptious, and make great hostess or holiday presents if you're not going to eat them yourself for some reason. They also freeze well. The Tearoom was the last stop for a day of girliness we had recently. We had reservations for 2, but didn't get seated and served until 230 pm due a large party before us, which put a wrinkle into a very busy schedule. Its wasn't too bad, as we got sample tea cakes and curd while we were waiting. The luncheon tea itself was awesome. It's a little pricey, but worth the value

PROS: baked goods and tea house - yummy
CONS: can get busy, especially on weekends
