Beware of this Doubletree!

Beware the room you reserve online will NOT be the one you are offered when you arrive, confirmation number or not... We reserved 4 river view suites and 1 cityside view suite online in April 2007. When we arrived in July 2007, we were told those rooms were unavailable, they had given them to others for anywhere from $400-$800 (~$200-$600 more than thier advertised price). We spoke with the front desk, the manager, Pam, attempted to contact Dale Jordan, the GM, no response from him. Bottom line, beware of this particular Doubletree, I've stayed at others with no issues, but this one is to be avoided. Classic Bait and switch tactics...

Nice but outdated. by Kim W. at InsiderPages

This hotel is nice but badly needs to be updated. It looks like a hotel from the 70's . The rooms need to be remodeled. The rooms are big and clean, but you can really hear people in the hallways from inside your room. They give you a cookie when you check in which is nice. The cookies are really good. You can buy a tin of six cookies for about $14. The prices of the rooms are a little high, but they are very large rooms. They are suites, so you get a bedroom and a separate living room. There was a small kitchen as well. I would recommend this hotel if you visit Columbus in the future. It does cost money to park in their parking garage.

Awesome

Loved the delicious chocolate chip cookies - taste even better after a long trip! Beautifully decorated lounge and suites. Suite really makes you feel at home with the enclosed bedroom and homey living room set up. Extremely helpful staff. Delicious room service too. Would've appreciated free parking.

Pros
+ beautiful suites, large bathrooms, two TV's in room

Cons
- expensive parking

Luxury beds and deluxe amenities help business folks and families sleep well at this comfortable mid-level chain.

In ShortWarm chocolate chip cookies greet every guest at this Hilton-owned hotel, a friendly touch that fits in with the hotel's business-casual attitude. Another way Doubletree helps its guests relax is the Sweet Dreams bed, which features a pillow-top mattress, high thread-count linens, down comforters and lots of jumbo pillows. Amenities also include high-speed Internet access, in-room coffeemaker and complimentary newspaper; properties also typically feature a swimming pool, a fitness center and a range of meeting facilities.

The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable. Convenient location in downtown and easy to get around. However, it's a little expensive for what I got. Room service was very expensive. You'd be better off to get breakfast stuff and put it in the room refrigerator instead of getting room service. My family of 5 could've had a complete breakfast for what I paid for a large pot of coffee and 2 glasses of orange juice. If you have the money it's a great stay, just be prepared to $$$PAY$$$ for your stay. ...

Never Again

Our stay at this hotel was skeptical to start with. It was a mistake from the start. We booked using the State Employee discount rate of $80 but when we checked in, we were told the prices had gone up at the beginning of the year to $110 and their website hadn't been updated yet. My husband argued that it...

Great stay in Columbus

I'm not sure the previous poster was in the same hotel. Yes, this is not a new hotel and some areas showed some sign of age (baseboards, hall carpet design), but I looked high and low for dirt and found none. I'm a "grout" fanatic and am pleased to say that I was able to shower without even thinking about...

You must be kidding

Reading the recent reviews of this hotel leads me to believe one or several of the reviewers stayed at a different hotel. This is an old, old nasty hotel. I cannot believe that Hilton corporate has ever looked at this place. The room I was in, while huge, was dirty and disgusting. The drapes, windows, curtains are stained and falling...

My stay at the Double Tree was amazing. I was a little concerned after reading other reviews but I didn't encounter any problems at all. Check in was fast and easy, room was huge, clean, and contained everything I needed. I booked my stay at the last minute on Hotwire and paid only $69 a night. I had a view...

Great Stay in the Double Tree

I was a little concerned at first when I started looking for a hotel in downtown Columbus for the same day. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the rate I was able to get at the Double Tree. Parking was on site in the garage right under the hotel, check-in was quick and easy and the staff was courteous and...

Great downtown hotel

I just got home from my stay in Columbus at the DoubleTree guest suits downtown. I booked through Priceline.com for a bid of $50. My daughter and I wanted a hotel close to Nationwide Arena. Nationwide is about 6 blocks north on Front Street, so we chose to drive to our event rather than walk. We had a parking voucher...

Not for the faint of smell....

The suite was spacious and with ample room for my friends and I to enjoy a long weekend. The only negative was that the room smelled like cigarette smoke and there were leftover cigarette ashes around the trash can by the desk. One of my friends was having sinus difficulties due to the smell. Also, my other friend slept on the sofa bed in the separate living room and couldn't get to sleep because she kept hearing faint "machiney" sounds all night long at start/stop intervals.
The hotel is a decent place to stay...but I doubt I'd go back.

I’m from the Dayton area but my girlfriend and I stayed here yesterday evening in order to avoided a crack-of-dawn commute to the Columbus Airport for an early morning flight today. Parked in the first spot of a garage (empty at this point on a Monday) just outside the hotel’s main entrance (not the Double Tree lot, but maybe even...

Four of us booked a 2 room "river view" suite for a Saturday Evening. I believe with AArp and AAA it came to about $129. Arrival:We parked at Double tree's car garage near the elevator entrance. You take an elevator to the main lobby to check in, then a separate elevator to your room. No problem, no wait at check...

I am with the guy who posted July 2nd. We stayed here the weekend of June 22nd for 2 nights. I booked the hotel online back in March, confirming a non-smoking room with 2 double beds. It was for my husband, me, my son and his babsitter (we were going to a convention). Upon arival Thursday night, we were told...

Overall, I liked the room. It would be good for extended stay travelers because of the two rooms per unit floor plan. Having a living area and a bedroom would make it seem more like a house. Disadvantages are that it is bigger than necessary for short stay travels. The living room was too big. It does not need to be that much space between the TV and the couch. The other spot of excessive space was around the room entrance and around the kitchen table. Reducing the space means more guest rooms in the same size building area. That might translate to lower prices for hotel guests or higher profits.
