Educational not just for kids but adults too

I am a 27 year old auntie and LOVE my nephews. I live in Atlanta and communte home to Ohio about six time a year. Every single time I go I look forward to loving on my three nephews. I took them and four other children to the Science Center and they absolutly loved it. We did the exhibits and watched a film on the IMAX theather. As a parent you can not pass this place up. Since I don't have any children of my own I love for them to experience new, fun and educational ideas.

Pros
+ Right off the e-way, near the lake, easy to find

Fun for all ages! by Tenille K. at InsiderPages

I took my cousins here for an afternoon of fun. It was great! Not only did the kids have a good time but so did I. Most things are interactive allowing first hand learning experiences. It was so great that the kids did not even want to leave and have been begging to go back ever since. The only downside is that we went on a Saturday afternoon and it was really crowded. Next time we will try a weekday.

An excellent place to visit and spend the day by M S. at InsiderPages

The best way to visit this museum is to have a season pass. It can be pricey if you plan on going several times and don't have one. It's clearly the best option. Visit their Ominmax Theater. Right now they are playing Mystery of the Nile. You'll find so many hands on experiments where the children and adults can have fun. They have camp-ins, field trips and so much more for the children. You can spend the day here and want to go back because you haven't seen it all or enjoyed it so very much. Test the laws of physics and motion. Check out mummification - Do it all here!

Liked The Galaxy/Star Attraction by Jason P. at InsiderPages

This is a neat planetarium to learn about astrology. They have booklets with the constellation and a history of each one (what Native Americans believed them to symbolize) so you can point them out in the observatory and learn about each one. Their movie about stars was too scientific and a bit too boring for me, so I recommend skipping that portion. Otherwise, this is a great alternative to seeing the stars, since Columbus tends too have too many lights to see the real ones.

The Great Lakes Science Center is a great place to visit with family. There are so many fun things to do there! I love to catch a movie at the IMAX theatre. It is a cool 360 degrees theatre and definitely worth the cost of a ticket. It's a great place to take children, too, because they will learn so much!

Great for Middle School Kids not for toddlers by Kim D. at InsiderPages

The great lake Science center is a great palce to take middle schoolers. We took our toddlers here. They do have a place for toddlers but it is small and really run down. The play center is dangerous too. It has very steep slides. My kids really enjoyed the omni max movie.

I guarantee you, if you take your young children here, they will get lost in the over 400 hands-on exhibits throughout the many floors of this fascinating building. They also have a Omnimax Theater as well which everyone will enjoy. Make sure you stop by their shop and get your own cool science experiments, and things.

I went on a day that it was free to get in and it would have been worht it to have paid to go. They have very interesting exhibits about the human body and how it functions. They have information that makes it easy to under stand science from a more practical point of view. They offer allot of hands on exhibits helping kids to stay interested in the museam.Worth the price of admission.

This is a great deal for your money. It has so many fun things to do, while teaching children about science. There is an IMAX theater and a planetarium. It is located on the Lake next to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It is easy to get to and is sure to provide a day of fun for young children.

Very nice exhibits by Jen P. at InsiderPages

The Science Center is a great place to go, especially with the kids. School-age kids are probably best, as toddlers and preschoolers may not understand everything yet. There are a ton of displays that are both educational and fun about space, the human body, and much more. There is also an IMAX theatre where they show some great movies. Parking is around the corner, but it's not terribly far. There is a snack shop to grab a bite and a gift shop for souveniers. This place is a great way to spend an afternoon or the better part of a day.

Fun-filled educatiom

The is a superb, fun-filled, informative museum for both adults and children. Its countless interactive teaching sites are educational and user friendly. It is a great way for children to learn how the world around them actually works. The omnimax theater provides a three dimensional experience that enables the viewer to become totally emersed in the visual and aural presentation. Last, but not least, the museum is also an architectural/visual treat in of itself. The immediate proximity to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is also a plus

Pros
+ Things to do, Value for cost, good parking

I remember how excited I was as I first entered the Great Lakes Science Center. I had been to other science centers before, and I hoped that this one would fulfill my expectations. It certainly did! With the various exhibits that defy your normal science museums, a kid cannot stay bored here.

Still great, but needs updates

The science museum needs to update its displays since they are based on older technology, especially the MRI and Ultrasound displays on the first floor. And some of the displays weren't working when we were there, which was frustrating for the kids.

Where else can you go where a child can not only have fun, but learn something at the same time in Cleveland? This (and the Cleveland Zoo) was by far one of the best attractions we saw in Cleveland. While the staff, food, and gift shop were subpar, the hands on attractions were the best I have seen in any...
