Great value in Manhattan!

The staff was very friendly, we had a spacious (spacious for NYC hotel rooms) 5 person room and our total for 5 nights was around $1,349. There were built in drawers and cabinets for all of our stuff. Because there were 5 of us trying to get ready, we had several appliances plugged in and we blew a fuse more than once. Each time, the staff tended to it promptly. We also requested extra towels, pillows, ice, ironing board, etc and were not disappointed in the service we received. It was a very clean, convenient hotel. Hallways, elevators, stairwells and lobby were all very appealing and clean. Blocks away from Ground Zero and right by several subway lines. Highly recommended!

Pros
+ starbucks & convenient store downstairs!

Cons
- location is pretty far south of midtown/ times square

THEY CANCELLED MY RESERVATION FOR NO REASON

I reserved a room for my friends 3 months in advance, and I called back for confirmation 2 wks prior to their arrival. Hotel said "Sorry your reservation has been cancelled".. I tried to argue but there was nothing they can do. What is the point of reservation at this hotel anyway?

Cons
- Obviously they don't take reservations.

2nd stay, still great

Came back again to NYC and brought two more people. We stayed here again. Once again, we were not disappointed. Room was small, but it accomodated four adults just fine. Location was great for what we needed. IT WAS CLEAN. Very clean hotel for the price. The amenities were few, but a call to the front desk ALWAYS brought what we needed. Ice, Ironing board, etc. We love this place, and will most likely always stay here. You can not beat the price in NYC.The service was very friendly as well.

Pros
+ Clean, Convienient, Safe

Cons
- , Small Rooms, Had to call for Ice

you can find better!

after traveling to the city approximately 6-7 times a year and staying in the cosmopolitan for an evening i do know for a fact that there are better deals and hotels for the same and sometimes less money if you are prepared to do some searching and some homework.

a nice hotel

I stayed in the cosmo for one night at the end of august, and all in all it was a nice hotel. The room was small, but is didn't matter at all. We had enough room for the luggage, it was well furnished and very nicely decorated, and it was really warmth and cosy. The room was clean spotless!! The...

Really pleased

My girlfiend and I stayed here for four nights in early September and both of us were really pleased with the hotel. It's location is super - you literally fall down Chambers Street subway station when you exit the front door, and all of south Manhattan upto about Canal Street is easily walkable if you are fit enough! There are...

A gem in Tribeca

Although the room we had was small it was spotlessly clean and the staff were very helpful. We stayed for 6 nights and it was great value for money. We were on the verge of cancelling our trip because hotels were so expensive given it was Thanksgiving week when we were there. It certainly isn't a fancy hotel but it...

Good for family of 5

Hotel has rooms that have 2 queen beds and a queen sleeper sofa. Bathroom has a sink and there is a sink outside the bathroom as well, very useful. Room was spacious, soaring ceilings which increased the feeling of space. Very comfortable for the 5 of us, did not feel claustraphobic at all, room looked onto air well, no street...

Characterful

Stayed just one night which was perfect as it was cheap. But the room was too small for a longer stay, and there's no breakfast (but good places next door). VERY clean. Super part of town as you can walk to Little Italy/Chinatown etc.

Great Location for Subway

Stayed here in 2006. No question but we would stay here again. Great location for subway - The A train from JFK, almost direct to the hotel door. Huge number of subway lines converge on Chambers St or very close by. On the Subway map, City Hall & Park Place look further from hotel than they actually are. Buy a...

Great Find

Looking for an affordable hotel to stay in while in NYC that was clean, convenient, had a private bath and was under $250/night landed me at this hotel. I was not disappointed at all; it met all of the requirements! Suggested to our friends they stay here as well and they were equally as satisfied. We would definitely return.

Different Hotel Experience

This hotel was built in the 1840's!. Although the rooms are small, and the bathroom makes you feel like using an airplane lavatory, this hotel was a great stay. Overall, it looks renovated just recently, the lobby and front desk are proportional to the rooms. Location is good. Steps from the 1,2 and 3 subway lines, other lines are two...

Excellent Choice

This was an excellent choice for us to start our trip off in the US. We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and found the location of the hotel to be outstanding with many of the subway lines located directly outside of the hotel. It is in the financial district so the area does become a bit quiet at...

Can't fault The Cosmo

My 1st stay in New York so didn't really know where to stay. Was on a budget therefore couldn't just choose the more expensive and 'safe bet' hotels. After much research decided to book the Cosmopolitan Hotel. What a lucky choice! The room and bathroom were small but I was travelling alone so that was fine. This was overcome anyway...

We are regulars at Cosmo when in NYC...

Terrific location in neighborhood of Tribeca, why stay uptown with many restaurants (Nobu and Odeon) neaarby and with much to explore in this part of the city? Subway out front, one block to another Subway line; Starbucks at front door...2 blocks to WTC site, Century 21 department store for mega-bargains, and a few blocks north to Soho/ Chinatown. Clean hotel, friendly service, plain decor but bargain rates. Pay the extra and get a sofa in room or a bit too small. We've done both, once we even had a second sink in the room outside the full bath! Prepare to walk to parking garage and pay discount fee for parking as hotel guest. We recommend as a fab boutique hotel - can't wait to stay a 5th time soon! The internet rates have always been a tremendous NY bargain for us; and I did not smell smoke (Other comments on this site) on any of my visits to Cosmopolitan Hotel

worst hotel i have ever stayed in

Although this hotel is in a great location, had wireless internet, and had a pretty lobby, this was the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. There are no nonsmoking rooms available so if you have an allergy to cigarette smoke there is nothing that they can do. When I first entered the room, it was hot, stuffy and the air was thick from cigarette smoke. When I made my reservation and when I checked in, I told the hotel that I had a severe allergy to cigarette smoke. Their solution was spraying imy room with Glade. Furthermore, fumes from other smokers came into my room through the bathroom vents. The rooms were ridiculously small. It took five steps to get from the bathroom to my bed. The bathroom was even smaller. Only one person can fit in the bathroom at a time. The television stations were snowy. There were a group of us and although they booked 2 beds, they got singles. If your window faces the street, the constant sounds of fire trucks and police sirens will keep you up. There are no screens on the windows. The parking is NOT across the street from the hotel. The best part of the trip was that the elevator doors would not close so there were maintenance men in the elevators forcing the elevator doors closed. The pillows are fluffy but they are at a weird depth. Most of the people on the trip with me had stiff necks from the pillows
