Just alright

I like to support local independent businesses, so I don't want to sound too discouraging...but there are some kinks in this coffee shop. I've given it a try a couple times. The plug ins are limited if you're wanting to use your laptop (you're pretty much forced to sit at one of the tables by the window), which isn't necessarily negative since there was free tables both times I went (but kind of annoying when I would have rather hung out on the more comfortable sofa) and during the day the sisters are friendly and like to have conversations with customers who came in, which got somewhat annoying considering their volume and sound of their voices. Don't get me wrong, being friendly with the regulars is not a bad thing, just annoying since you can't escape from their voices, especially since you may have to route yourself to a window table for a plugin. The coffee is not bad. I don't remember much about food choices, but I don't think they have an impressive selection of anything...Try it for yourself though.

Pros
+ locally owned independent coffee

Cons
- loud sisters, lack of plugins

Well worth the walk

This is my favorite downtown coffee place. It's cozy, not a chain, make great coffee and espresso drinks, not a chain, friendly owners and baristas, not a chain, and on top of everything else, it's not a chain! Seriously--well-crafted lattes and mochas, a nice variety of brewed coffees and teas, a few pastries. It's on the skyway system, although a little off the beaten path--right above Kieran's Pub, at 2nd Ave. and 4th St. By the way, the name is a pun, of course, but it also refers to the sisters (triplets) who own the place. They also have a location on Bloomington Ave. in south Minneapolis. Check them out!

Pros
+ Great coffee, friendly service, not a chain

Cons
- A little farther to walk from many downtown locations

those on the north end of downtown gravitate to this cozy little coffee nook. most of the patrons want grab-and-go service, but there are a few comfortable tables. there are normally 5 to 7 different coffees to choose from and they are always fresh, hot...
