You can take a round-the-world tour in the Court Avenue area, and The Royal Mile is an excellent place to start. The bar has two levels and a patio in the alley, giving you plenty of places to wander and people watch on busy weekends. The Red Monk is a small bar-within-a-bar on the second level of the bar.

The Royal Mile is a dark, cozy British pub in the heart of downtown Des Moines' Court Avenue district. It was lauded as one of Esquire magazine's Best Bars in the Country in 2007, and I agree.

The bar is quaint, cozy and dark, with a pretty good variety of british beers on tap.

Their menu is also fun, with great fish and chips, duck wraps or salads, and Guinness potpie.

My friends and I love going to The Royal Mile. Its one of my favorite patios in the summer. Im generally a bud light girl, but I love tasting some of the fancy and cider beer at the Mile.
