Roscoe's House of Chicken 'n Waffles

Chicken 'n Waffles

Review Rating
This most popular branch of the local Roscoe's chain is always packed. Be prepared to wait for a table. Call ahead and you can pick up food curbside. Chicken and waffles do go together! Great biscuits and gravy, greens, red beans, grits and corn bread. Don't be surprised to see your favorite musician or hip hop artist here - the place is very popular. If you don't want to wait go to the Roscoe's in Pasadena. I also like the south LA location (be prepared to wait there too).

Waffles and fried chicken.

Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles is such an L.A. institution that people don’t even question the strange combo anymore. In the end, it’s a gluttonous mixture of sweet and savory goodness that’s hard to resist yet can’t be indulged in too often. Don’t forget to try the other down-home selections at Roscoe’s, like the smothered potatoes with gravy, the mac and cheese, and -- if you’re feeling... more

This soul food institution is a cholesterol-drenched guilty pleasure.

The Scene Roscoe's offers no-frills decor, but patrons aren't here for the furniture. If planning a Sunday lunch, show up early: It's a favorite brunch spot for locals, with families arriving in their Sunday best. The Food An L.A. institution immortalized in flicks like "Swingers" and "Pulp Fiction," Roscoe's is not for the cholesterol-conscious crowd: Fried chicken... more

This could be the real after-party. Slanging sweet soul food draws crowds when the club lets out. Line gets downright Soviet, especially on weekends, at this classic chain's tiny Hollywood outlet. Browse throwbacks while waiting for 'Scoe's Special and Sunrise drink. Big Mama's is another classic. Get it to go and you'll be scarfing bird while chickenheads wait for a table. Although, that way... more

It sounds like a bad joke -- fried chicken and waffles on the same plate. But Roscoe's is one of those places that you have to visit at least once to see how it works (and judging by the wait, it definitely works). A chicken-and-cheese omelet isn't everyone's ideal way to begin the day, but it's de rigueur at Roscoe's. At lunch, few calorie-unconscious diners (and they come in all colors here)... more

I don't know if I have reviewed this one...but it says the doctor wouldn't approve of the cholesterol filled fried chicken and syrup drenched waffles. But contrary to my belief, my appetite didn't approve of it either. Just not a good mix for me. I will leave this restaurant to the California natives.

...we decided to actually go in instead of saying, We should try it out one of these days!

Yep yep, chicken and waffles and fruit punch! You get exactly what you ask for. Three stars for an enjoyable if completely predictable experience.

It's KFC plus! (But without the tasty biscuits.) Put some jelly on the waffles...it's good.

While in vaction in LA, we JUST HAD to visit many of the landmarks including Roscoe's. Not reading any reviews about this location, we had no idea what to expect. We went one night during the week at about 7pm. We lucked out and parked just about 60 feet away. As we approached, the big black man (security?) told us to go right in.
Inside it was super small. The "main" dining area had about... more
