A reply to gmw71 from the selling dealer

This customer came in on the price of 2000.00 dollars for an 05 volvo s40...I had already lower it to 1700. on CL so i offered it to him for that price before he asked....Remember, this is a 1700.00 dollar car not a 7700.00 dollars car or a 17 or 27000.00 dollar car.......then we took a 20 min. test ride thru the hills of palmer and monson with not a single complaint....he said it was for him while he was laid off and then giving to his son...at the discounted price i told him he may need to spend a few dollars to pass inspection and he said " no problem"....he is a laid off money market manager and seemed like an educated person so i am sure he new what he was doing.....he had to put some brakes on it and an overflow coolant tank....should not have cost anywhere near 700.00....but did he think he would get a perfect car for 1700.00...of course not, there is no such thing....What he should have thanked me for saving him 300.00 off the selling price without him even having to ask...again, on the 20 minute test drive he did not have a single complaint about the car or the brakes or anything else He said it was the best thing he'd seen for the money.....maybe he should have not have been a spendthrift and thought a little more about his son's safety and not been so cheap on what he bought or complained about fixing something.... Stated he would put my daughters private info online

Stay away! Wish we had heeded the other bad reviews instead of the reviews from this guys friends. The owner of this company, John Anthony Day, sold us a car that he told us would be able to get a sticker before we took it off the lot. He kept the car and our money for one week, when we picked up the car, he didn't have the title and stated he would pick it up the next day, the next day became a week and a half. Day didn't produce a title for two weeks. When we didn't get the title, we asked for our money back. He stated, "I don't have your money and will need to sell a few cars to get the money, you will get the title when I have time to go get it". He also stated if we made a complaint he would put my daughters personal information online. At time of pick up the car was so far on "empty" that the light was blinking and the buzzer was sounding. When we asked if it was broken, he said "No, get to a gas station quick." This guy lives out of a van on the property, that should have been the first clue not to purchase a vehicle from him. Stay away from this dealership. Since this happened to us, I have heard many similar stories.

Feeling scammed

If you buy from them, make sure to not take on responsibility for any post-purchase maintenance costs. I bought a car that did not pass inspection and I think he knew that was going to happen. Unfortunately, I agreed to spend "a few bucks" to get it up to snuff. $700+ worth of repairs later in the first week, and I'm still finding issues. Would not go back and would not recommend.

John and his wife were friendly, hospitable and helpful. We bought a nice Kia from them. I thought all the cars there were in great shape and reasonably priced.
We had made a deal that the Kia should have new tires, his expense. He spent $90 a tire when he could have spent only $50 per tire. I thought that was a high class act. He made sure that the vehicle was completely checked over...

Don't buy anything from that shyster.
I drove an hour and a half to look at a car he promised he would hold until I got there and two miles before I arrived his wife called and said it was sold. Then the jerk had the nerve to tell me that he had to protect his own interests.
What about the CUSTOMER!!!
