Took my golden retriever for emergency care on Sunday he was near death.They demanded a $500 deposit before they could examine my pet, Duke. 40 minutes later and $685.89 I was told they couldn't find any thing major wrong. They suggested an overnight stay for additional $1450 for further testing but that a golden of his age (91/2 years) probably had cancer and that I might consider uthanization for additional $80 if I took the body home with me.....I declined. The next morning after a night spent with crying grandchildren took Duke to his regular vet where a office exam revealed a large stick wedged between his upper rear teeth puncturing his sinuses. One week later and a bill that was for less than the 40 min he spent at Rivergate Emergency Pet Clinic he has fully recovered. I'M furious! I demanded my money back but was told by Michael E. Lutz DVM who is the spokesman for the clinic they did nothing wrong GO FIGURE! My regular vet told me Duke's condition was a result of pancreatitis that was induced by the trama and infection of th S-T-I-C-K that any Vet should have seen during a visual exam not to mention they had charged me for an x-ray.
Rivergate Pet Emergency Clinic was more interested in preparing invoices than giving care.
I had taken my 4 pound chihuahua there because he couldn't keep anything down and I could clearly see he was dehydrated. All they worried about was there stupid office visit, had me leave him there for 2 hours and called me at 12:00am to come and pick him up claiming there was nothing wrong. My dog now has parvo and is being treated at the vets in the proper way. These people should be shut down. Please say a prayer for my biggie.
My beloved puppy was hit by a car at 10pm last week. This place seemed to be my only choice at the time. they wanted $85 before they would even look at him, and ""suggested"" tht I pay $754 for what they called comprehensive care (or at least that's what I thought she said, I couldn't hear her between my hearing loss and the extreme ringing in my head cause I was scared to death). Thank you for your positive words. I am so sorry that you had to face this decision, which is a very difficult one indeed. I am happy my staff was able to make that time a little easier through your positive experience.
I am so sorry for your less than positive experience. We always offer the optimum standard of care as the first option, but are sensitive to money concerns in these times and offer alternative treatment plans to accomodate caring owners, like yourself who must make those difficult choices.
