Due to damage from the storm on Monday, October 29th, The River Café will be closed until further notice. We are currently not accepting any reservations. The extensive rebuilding and restoration will continue to keep us closed for at least another month. We will not be open for the Christmas or New Year's Eve holidays.

The River Café and its owner, Michael “Buzzy” O'Keeffe, have become renowned for producing more great American chefs than any other restaurant in America. Mr. O'Keeffe has raised many talented chefs to national prominence - including Rick Stefan, Larry Forgione, Charles Palmer, David Burke, Rick Laakonen, Rick Moonen and Brad Steelman.

Editorial reviews from the web (13) view all

The "million-dollar views" of Lower Manhattan are "indispensable" at Buzzy O'Keeffe's "true NY classic" on the Dumbo waterfront, refurbished following Hurricane Sandy and still maintaining the "highest standards" via "glorious" New American cuisine from a "professional staff" in a "romantic" setting; granted, the prix fixe–only dinners are a "splurge", but then again, the dining here is truly...

Stunning views of Manhattan

This is one of the most beautiful restaurants in the world. The setting on the East River, under the Brooklyn Bridge and with stunning views of Manhattan, is unbelievable. Add superb food and great service and you have an evening you always will remember.

The best spot in NYC

We had an incredible dinner here. Did the tasting menu with wine pairings. Both were incredible. The service is outstanding at all levels. Very friendly and attentive. The view is like no other in the city. If you want to impress a date this is the place to go. Highly recommend this spot. We will be back.

Tips about this business (17) view all

Too often derided for its preposterously beautiful view and identity as a romantic nirvana, the fact is that The River Cafe has always been and remains one of the very greatest New York restaurants.

Know Before You Go: The famed Brooklyn Bridge chocolate marquise dessert looks better than it tastes, but don't let that stop you.
