Editorial reviews from the web (4)

Housed in a refurbished 1913 building that once held a five-and-dime store, downtown's The Capitol at St. Germain incorporates its natural history with a fun 1920s vibe, complete with garter belts on the arms of each server.

The expansive space still manages to be cozy with tall circular booths perfect for catching a live musical performance with friends. Favorites on the food front include the Ménage à foie (a foie gras trio - clever, no?) and, as one might expect, St. Germain elderflower liqueur happily takes a prominent spot on the cocktail menu.

The Capitol at St. Germain Closed for Renovations

Order a classic cocktail and feel like a flapper at this 1920s-themed bar. It's rolling out low-key bar food that's pretty tasty, too.

Romantic downtown venue with live music and shared plates. Crab cakes are xlnt, drinks are xlnt, ménage a foie app is fun.

I loved it! My friend, Hank from the Southern Backtones was playing here tonight, and my boyfriend came here with me for date night. I had my favorite Argentinian Malbec wine, and he had his Stella Artois.

Ate there Jan 14

This was the worst dining experience i ever had in Houston. The first two things I ordered were not available. I go angel hair pasta with shrimp, clams and mussels. When he placed it in front of me it smelled like crab bait. The shrimp were salted rubber and it went downhill from there. I could not eat it.

Every Trip to Houston: This is a must stop for excellent food and music! Kid friendly. Sergio was a superb waiter and the Owner does an excellent job overall. Thanks

It's evident from the moment that you walk into The Capitol at St. Germain that it's no mere restaurant. Its dual bars, private lounge and main stage replete with red velvet curtains signal a modern supper club, the type that hosts intimate jazz bands during the week and full shows on the weekends.
