Ocean Beach wine shop also houses a comfortable, casual-chic restaurant and wine bar backed by bigtime San Diego foodies.
Tips About This Business
The name 3rd corner signifies its location on the third corner of what was once Ed Moore's restaurant empire at this odd roundabout at the end of West Point Loma Blvd.
The tiny lot behind the building is often full, and it may take a few minutes of driving around the neighborhood streets to find a spot. But avoid parking in Robb Field after dark.

Editorial Reviews from the web
The Scene Though prominent culinary talent and restaurateur Ed Moore owns the place, there is little pretense about the food, the wine or the ambiance at this OB eatery. It looks like a large wine cellar in the basement of an old house, with a charming mish-mash of tables tucked away in the few open corners. Three distinct rooms--bar, cafe, outdoor patio--allow everyone in the diverse...

On the edge of Ocean Beach at the bend of a three-way intersection, the 3rd Corner Wine Shop & Bistro seems far removed from the burger joints and dive bars that populate O.B.'s streets.
Yet even though 3rd Corner is a bit more plush than most spots in the neighborhood, it retains the beach community's laid-back atmosphere and casual charm.
I'm not the only one who has discovered the...

The decor and atmosphere are informal, but the "cozy" feeling and the phenomenal food on a cold (for SoCal) winter night was out of this world.

This is a great little place to come for a quick bite and some wine. They have a wide selection of wine in their wine store which is connected to the dining area. You can pick out your wine, and bring it to your table and you will be served. Great idea! Quaint little place, and good food too!
We visited 3rd Corner while on vacation in neighboring Mission Bay. Upon entering the staff was very friendly and escorted us to a lounge room to wait for an open table. A combo wine shop/bistro, they had quite a large selection of domestic and foreign wines to choose from. The house wine buyer was helpful in choosing a Malbec from Argentina for dinner, and it was wonderful. One huge problem -...

If you love wine and tapas this is the place to go in Ocean Beach. They also have a huge selection of wine in their store that is connected to the restaurant. If you enjoyed the wine that you drank for dinner you can pop right over to the store and purchase it to bring home. The food is all tapas but the quality and the many choices that you get is rewarding for any appetite. If you do not feel...

I love this restaurant. In fact, it may be my favorite in San Diego. The wait staff has always been friendly, food is tasty and a good value. Wonderful cheese plate, great portion on the mussels, my husband loves the pork. Really, there is something for everyone here. One night the soup was not what I expected, and the food server insisted on taking it off the bill. My friends enjoy walking...

It doesn't matter that the concept is great......wines everywhere, mellow atmosphere, and relaxing music. Our feeling of serenity was short lived by terrible service. Our server was sooooooo bad that we will never return to this Ocean Beach bistro nor recommend it to any friends. Our food took over 45minutes to arrive and when it did it was cold (when it should have been hot) and delivered...

I have been to 3rd corner many times. I have had a great time everytime. They have a great wine selection that you can browse and drink or buy while waiting to be seated. I enjoy their cheese plate and all of their salads (the goat cheese spinach one in particular). I flat out crave the baked brie, YUM. I have never had any issues with the service. It does get crowded during Friday...

We were very excited to take our out-of-town guest to a cool OB wine bar for his birthday. After picking out our wines, we waited almost 20 minutes for our server to open our bottles (by the way, there is a $5 "corkage fee" AND a $5 "wine here" fee). We then waited over 20 minutes for our server to take our order. The food was very bland and over priced for what we got. What made this an even...

Small, intimate, friendly atmosphere. I frequent there often and its always wonderful. Great for friends to chill on some of their couches devouring their array of different cheese app's. or at the bar, it's also great for couples - small groups. They have an awesome selection of wines which is a main part of your intended experience. They have 2 sections of their restaruant full of wines...

It is great to be able to walk around a restaurant and browse a huge selection of wines. There are people around to help with questions or suggestions but they leave you alone if you're good on your own. We love the salads and cheese board (It comes with fruit, nuts, and bread. It is somewhat small but always has incredible flavor!) We are never rushed and usually enjoy early afternoons...

I love San Diego I have lived here forever and I really think this is one of the best restaurants/wine bars to ever arrive in our fabulous city. This place is great. It's in OB so you know it's somewhat casual which San Diego always does well. But in addition to casual, 3rd Corner mixes in this quiet, dimly lit, romantic mood, a great bar, a fun outdoor patio, and a simple killer menu. I...

Who knew OB could host a win bar with over 800 wines!? Almost mistaken for a house on the corner, the 3rd Corner is definately a find in this little town. The set up is very unique-It is comprised of several rooms with hundreds of crates stacked high with great wine and tables for two, four or more in between. You choose your own bottle to take home or to enjoy there. Their menu is small, but...

Whether you're in the mood to shop wine or treat yourself to an enjoyable dinner....... The 3rd Corner is your answer!
As you walk through the entrance you are greeted with a warm, stylish, yet comfortable setting. There are multiple rooms filled with tables to site, each room with setting its own mood with individual color and lighting. After being escorted to your table, you are invited...

Food... ehhhhhhhh. Its good (albeit $$$), but that's not what makes this place so special. This is a classic, and classy, date place in OB. Picking the wine becomes a festivity instead of solely a consumeristic extension of retailism. For the money, you can get 2-3 bottles of wine and just drink your heart away! Wait, feeling a little uncomfortable in formal chairs, they have a solution for...
