It takes a bit of courage to shout out your order from the long line that snakes back and forth in the entryway of this New York-style pizza joint. But regulars -- mostly students and office workers -- are used to the routine and will even gently prod newcomers when it's their turn to speak up. The two-slice-and-a-drink special -- a steal at $6 -- is always a good choice, as are the handmade... more

Editorial Reviews from the web

The preferred pizza joint for the downtown lunch crew.

The Scene Atlanta's lunch-focused Fairlie-Poplar district draws crowds to Rosa's. The less-than-$5 meals certainly attract Georgia State students, bike messengers and business folk to the no-frills counter, but it's the authentic New York-style pizza that makes this place a lunchtime standard. Lines quickly wrap outside the small storefront and brisk pizza pushers keep things moving,... more

Tiny place that turns out big taste! by Michelle P. at InsiderPages

A great hidden gem downtown. While the whole pizzas aren't a bargain, you can get a slice for about $3, and that's enough for me at lunch. Authentic New York style pizzas and calzones. The restaurant itself is tiny, and the line at lunch snakes around, so be prepared!

1 slice of spinach, 1 slice of mushroom, and I am good to go. This is my favorite pizza in the city. I don't eat pork, but tomatoes, onions or even sun dried tomatoes all make for a pleasant pizza eating experience. Even with a crowded lunch line wrapped around the whole store and down the stairs, the ordering process is different , but finely tuned to get you in and out. Next!!! Price is cool,... more

Going to Gsu, eating down town in between classes is hard. Growing up in Long Island. I know real pizza. There pizza is good. But, When I see an employee sneeze and not wash his hands and contunue to make pizza. Makes me want to run as fast as I can from this place.

I've lived in NYC and Chicago, and never in a million years did I think pizza like this would be found in Atlanta. And boy was I wrong. I had to take my son down to GSU for registration and books, and we stopped into Rosa's. Just perfect. No frills, just a hole-in-the wall near Georgia State. But when we walked in, and smelled the pizza, I knew something good was coming our way. This is... more

As a NY transplant and being accused of being a "Pizza Snob" I can state without hesitation that Rosa's is the closest thing you will get to NY style pizza here in Atlanta. If you know what makes a good pizza (thin crust, little sauce, lots of cheese and olive oil) then you get it. The only criticism I have with Rosa's is that they need to "tweak" the sauce a bit.

Bit of NY in ATL

Couldn't wait to try when I hear all of the reviews of best NY pizza. They are right. Night thin crispy crust a bit of saucce and nicely melted cheese, don;t need toppings. Calzone's good dough and sauce on side; used to more ricotta with the nice hint of mozarella, they reverse it but still good.

I have this disabling/annoying condition- you see, I absolutely love pizza, down to the very core of me (namely, my belly), but I can only enjoy certain kinds (namely, 'good' or 'very well-made'). I go to GSU, and decided to try this place out as I was walking to Aderhold for a class. So many non-New York states try to get the New York pizza right, and fail miserably (e.g. a pizza place a... more

Little Italy In Downtown ATL!

Everyone knows when you go to NYC, you go to Little Italy for homestyle pizza and Mama's other favorites. When you are in DT-ATL, do yourself a favor, and get in line, at this hole-in-the wall. When you finally get inside to place your order at the counter, you will think you are in Little Italy. Just the best NYC pizza this side of the Mason-Dixon line! Crispy slices the way you like. Rosa's is the closet pizza to NYC pizza in Atlanta. The crust is harder, the toppings fresh, and the slices large. It's also greasy, and flavorful! I highly recommend Rosa's to anyone from the north.

Just want to place a rebuttle against those guys who wrote bad reviews about Rosa's. Being from an area where a good pie means something.... Just gotta say that those bad reviews come from people who wouldn't know a good pizza if it slapped them upside the head! Rosa's is the best in Atlanta. No doubt! So I read, from the many reviews, that Rosa's is the best. So, being the pizza fanatic I am, I tried it. It was nothing great. I'm from the midwest, and we have pizza chains in our malls like Luca Pizza, Pizza di Roma, and Enzo's pizza, which are all VERY similar to Rosa; plus, they're not served to you by a hairy fat guy.
The place is very dirty, old, and could benefit from some remodeling... more

My co-workers LOVE Rosa's, so when I first came to work downtown, I was constantly dragged to the area to get some of the coveted pizza. At first, I went along with it - and one day I realized what the problem was - the stuff is LOADED with grease. I could put a whole stack of napkins on top of it and STILL have grease dripping off. Never attempt to order a pizza and take back to the office,... more

Rosa's pizza is simply fantastic. You must get the in-store slices for the best deal (so they remain hot and crispy). Worth the often longer-than-20-person line. This stuff is pizza from heaven.

I am a True Pizza lover from the North and after going from pizza place to pizza place I finally found a true New York Pizza shop. It has it all. It's a small mom and pops restaurant that provide the BEST biggest Pizzas I have found since I have been in the ATL. Dont be fooled by those large chains and fancy pizza restaurans cause they do NOT compare to Rosa's at all.

Alot of places in Atlanta claim to have New York pizza or great pizza. But, folks, this is the real deal.

Pizza is excellent, the people behind the counter are geniune and the prices are right.

In Atlanta, you can't beat Rosa's for pizza. It should be No. 1!

Pros

When I worked downtown, I ate here at least 2x a week. It's cheap and the pizza is delicious... best I've ever had. Now that I have little kids, we go over for an occasional post-Aquarium/Children's Museum lunch. Warning to moms: don't even bother to bring in a stroller during the lunch rush (which starts at 11am)... it won't fit.

I love the food, these people that think these pseudo-New York pizza places are so good have no idea. They don't compare to the real thing and that is what Rosa's is.
