At Jer-Ne the restaurant's climate-controlled outdoor seating offers a view of the picturesque marina while both natural and diffused halogen lighting warms the teak wood terrace. A 14-foot long "caramel cream" colored onyx communal table in the midst of the main dining room provides a comfortable haven for small groups or single diners. There are three reasons to stay at the Ritz-Carlton in Marina del Rey: 1) You're a watercraft cognoscenti and you desire a serene view of 10,000 beautiful sailboats and yachts from your private balcony; 2) You want to take advantage of this business hotel's excellent weekend rates; or 3) You want to stay in style near the airport (a traffic-free 10-min. ride). In typical Ritz-Carlton fashion, the ... more

I’m not sure how often the information on this site is updated so I decided to weigh-in on Jer-ne restaurant located at the Ritz-Carlton Marina Del Rey. According to this site and several others I’ve investigated, Jer-ne serves a rather confusing fusion of East Asian cuisines. Nothing could further from what I saw on the menu last week.

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Ritz in Marina Del Rey in September of 2007 and the process was anything but exceptional, it was actually pretty mediocre. We had been set up originally with a coordinator that stood us up, and then were set up to partner up with the manager, who at the end of the day did pretty much nothing. I thought that when you paid the type of money we did ... more

I just went to a wedding that was held here this past weekend and simply knowing that it was going to be at the “Ritz” I knew it was going to be nothing less than extravagant. The ceremony was held outdoors overlooking a beautiful view of the ocean. The pre-reception lounging area was absolutely gorgeous and chic with its modern white furniture decorated tastefully with pink flowers. The reception ... more

This place is all about the ambiance and the location! I've never been disappointed with a single lunch on the outdoor terrace and dinner is what you'd expect form a restaurant located in the Ritz Carlton (although I favor the lunches over the dinners). I had dinner there last Friday night- June 2006 and was looking forward to an interesting meal - based on the LA Times review. Three of us got the 5 course tasting menu- with wine pairings ($95). We knew it was a bad call when the bread was stale and tastless. The best part of the meal was the cheese course- the one thing the chef couldn't mess up. The "heirloom" tomatoes (my favorite) had zero ... more

The hotel was evidently understaffed as there was no one working at check in. There was a very loud construction project going on w/in the hotel which made relaxing impossible. Having stayed at other Ritz properties the staff was not as gracious or helpful as I would have anticipated. The rooms had also seen MUCH better days.

I sent my parents together as an anniversary present. They took very good care of my parents, greeting them by name, putting them at a corner table, and presenting them with a elegantly decorated truffles tray at the end.

I was forced into going to Jer-ne with my wife for a work dinner.
We had a set menu and I chose the filet mignon. It was absolutely the BEST I have ever had! I would go back just to have it again. The service was also fantastic so I would recommend it for large parties too.

I too had a similar experience to the Valentines Day Massacre ! 2/14/2005..
I was really disappointed with the food at what one of L.A's best ??

The food pairings for their Valentines meal can best best described as "trying to hard" with flavors competing for each other rather than being complementary. Their dessert bar was highly disappointing. Out of the 5 course meal that I had, there was not ... more

Without sounding bitter, let me say that Valentine's dinner at Jer-Ne was about the worst meal I have ever had. The food combinations were thoughtless. It's as if the chef were forcing the issue. For what you had to pay for a Prix-Fixe menu, you would expect something with flavors that melded well together, but instead got a hodge podge of food groups that did not belong! If it were not for the ... more

Fusion Cuisine Gone Wrong!

It's hard to believe that this restaurant was named "Best Fusion Cuisine" by Los Angeles Magazine. I don't know what the heck the chef was doing back there, but dish after dish, I was repeatedly disappointed. We went last Sunday, supposedly for a la carte but got lured by the brunch buffet. The food was excellent, with all the seafood (salmon, lobsters, shrimp, other fish) being fresh and flavorful. The only thing was, I didn't expect it to be $60/pax. For Sunday brunch, that was a bit too much (but what should I have expected, it was the Ritz). The place was gorgeous though, with a nice view of the marina ... more

I don't write reviews frequently, but I felt compelled to add my two cents after reading the recent reviews... Great food, Troy Thompson is one of the most creative chefs I have met. Not to mention a great guy. The service needs some help, but the food and details overcome this.
