Think Italian fast food, and pizza and its inside-out cousin calzone come to mind. Porta di Roma, located on the first floor of the Wilson Building, has those in all their gooey, saucy splendor. (Both are good, big and reasonably priced.) Better still, this buffet-like restaurant serves up a wide variety of pasta dishes, cooked up fresh, fast and hot as you order. The pasta is al dente; the... more

Porta di Roma is open downtown Dallas for lunch, happy hour, dinner and now late night. The Late night menu has pizza made fresh by the owner, appetizers and desserts. A beautiful new neighborhood bar and restaurant. Friendly staff who knows almost everyone by name however, if you don't want too much attention you can be seated in the semi-private room where Britney Spears was just spotted with... more

My husband and I had a late lunch in this restaurant during the week while on business in Dallas. I have no complaints about the atmosphere, service, etc. I do, however, have complaints about being fed a salad that had been on display on the counter after one of the employees failed to bring me a salad along with my husband's. I also have complaints about the stomach cramps and sickness that... more

This review is for the Downtown Plano location at 1410 Ave K. This is by far the best Italian restaurant that I have eaten at, leaving the nearby chains in the dust. I have tried a number of their dishes from salads to ravioli, and they were all good. The pizza, though, is truly spectacular. If you appreciate low light, a relaxing atmosphere, delicious food, and curteous, attentive service you... more

The pasta? Better than Campisi's. Consistently delivers on all counts. Wine list could be a little longer, but at this point, who cares? Menu is reasonably priced and varied as you would expect for Italian. Staff friendly and with a sardonic wit. Go and eat.
