Grand Dame of a Hotel

Average Rating

The outside of the building sets forth that it was built in the 1920's. The inside reflects that period and is lovely. The staff was very courteous. My room was beautiful -- the windows had large shutters, the room was painted in a soft, cream color, and the bathroom had an art deco look to it. The hotel has a...

Rooms are large and there is free parking behind the hotel, the best thing is their location. We were moving our son in to Syracuse University and it was easy to get back and forth. The rooms were clean, linens average. We did not use the free breakfast but it was a nice option. You can also buy a beer...

Perfect home for a week

We were booked into this as the "overflow" hotel for a convention. It was our great good fortune. Located adjacent to Syracuse University, the rooms are spacious, very tastefully decorated and comfortable, huge bathrooms (at least ours was), many windows, and as the name implies, across from a little park. As other reviews have stated, the entrance is very classy,...

First the positives. The rooms are big, lots of TV channel choices, free wireless, free breakfast, nice lobby. The negatives: shutter windows dont keep room dark in the morning, wireless is weak, price is expensive ($229/room), not much within walking distance (although only short drive from lots of good restaurants), front desk service was average and how the rooms are...

So-called Upgrade

Average Rating

We had reservations at the Parkview, but during the check-in process we were asked if we would rather enjoy a free "upgrade" to their new sister property, the Skyler, a short drive away. We accepted, and checked-in at the Skyler, a beautifully renovated old building. During that check-in we were asked why the Parkview had sent us there. Not exactly...

We stayed here for one night en route to our final destination. i got a really good price through Priceline (NOT using "name your price", but it was an offer by Priceline. What a great place to stay. This boutique hotel is clean, charming, with spacious rooms. Beautiful decor, free parking and wifi and a very nice breakfast, all included in price. I was able to a very reduced rate through an internet third party site. I can't recommend this hotel enough, especially for access to SU.

I suppose that convenient parking and internet, coffee maker, refrigerator are most appreciated, along with a bed that is firm and a room large enough to move around without bumping into one another. Location was good for University visits or access to highway. Rooms are large, beds ok. Staff is friendly/accommodating. Free parking/breakfast. Breakfast offerings were fine.\n\nParking secluded, dark, small spaces...Can be tricky to maneuver around building. No roll away or cots offered (which surprised me). Always choose the Parkview Hotel as my choice when visiting Syracuse University. Such a convenient location to the University and the highway and neighboring shopping areas!
The rooms are all different and bring back the feel of elegance. Plantation shutters, instead of poorly hung drapes that don't close well, give the feel of new design! Behind the front desk, there...

Breakfast was pretty nice. Staff was friendly. Room were modern. Bathroom seemed nicer than I thought and also had 2 shower heads. We had the studio room with kitchenette. It has plates, utensils and also a toaster! Those were out of our expectation.\n\n1. It is just a concern, but I wish there's a security check or a guard at the parking lot. 2. Poor Syracuse... the recession has been particularly unkind to it. I stayed here for two weeks while in Syracuse on business and had one of the rooms (which they call a suite--it's a room) with a "kitchenette" (which here means a small refrigerator, a sink, and a microwave--no stovetop). This place would have been just fine for one night, but...

The Parkview is a very pleasant hotel with nicely appointed rooms, comfortable bedding, and good amenities; the lobby area was welcoming, there is a small shop for snacks and drinks for purchase; and the included daily breakfast was appreciated. It had a location central to both Syracuse University and downtown Syracuse. It also had a nice, classic air to it and was nicer than other hotels. The bathrooms were very nice and appealing.\n\nIts proximity to the highway and the fact that I could hear bass (maybe from the bar downstairs) from my room.\n\nA nice place to stay, with good light, and clean and welcoming rooms.

We were in Syracuse for 1 night, and I booked through Hotel.com, not knowing anything about this hotel. Got a great price so we went for it. The hotel isn't in the nicest looking part of Syracuse, with some abandoned industrial lands and interstate overpasses nearby creating a constant traffic hum at night. But, inside the hotel, it was nicely appointed, clean and comfortable, with ample free parking behind. The room itself was great as well, very nice large bathroom, clean rooms nice beds. I really loved the hotel ambience and cleanliness. The location is perfect since it's minutes away from Destiny Mall, Syracuse dome for sporting events and downtown nightlife.\n\nI did not like the parking provided behind the hotel. Hotel was reasonable. My main criteria for choosing this place was it's proximity to the Oncenter. I didn't stay long enough, so the lack of a swimming pool wasn't a big deal. My main interest was being within walking distance to campus, and the walk from Parkview is about 12 minutes. The hotel is cool, just because it is a updated art deco building. There is parking right out back and access through doors with the hotel keys. The rooms are really nice, and a steal for the price. The neighborhood is alright, close to the University and around a lot of businesses so it becomes a ghost town after 5:00. Very safe though.

Nice and clean

Very nice and clean place. Staff was friendly and efficient. Rooms are very spacious and well equiped - though the flat TV-screen is a bit small for the large room. The only point I could criticize is the poor sound insulation of the sewer pipe from upper floors which ran through the room.
