I'd seen Johnny "V" Vassallo achieve tremendous success with his downtown steakhouse, Mo's (720 N. Plankinton St.) and his Irish Pub that he built across the street. I'd heard great stories about his second Mo's Steakhouse, in Indianapolis.

In Short Brought to you by the owner of Mo's: A Place for Steaks, Moceans features freshly flown-in seafood in an upbeat, dimly lit setting. The classy, wood-paneled lounge offers live piano jazz and comfortable leather chairs. Along with more traditional seafood dishes, Moceans attempts more exotic specialties like "black and blue" ahi tuna and cracker-crusted haddock with smoked bacon ... more

I know this review is late, but I am hopeful that there is a new chef in the kitchen since this event has been an forgettable to me. Some time ago, I visited this restaurant and was served lobster claws. The meat was totally of (too bad I realized that after I had unsuspectingly put it in my mouth)! I immediately rid of it, right back onto my plate (not a pretty sight) I asked for it to be taken ... more

Located in the same spot that used to be Grenadier's (a favorite of mine). I loved the daily "oyster" choices - it makes me want to make sure that I go back until I have been able to try the oysters from every place they are bringing them in from. The service was just a bit slow but not enough to ruin the experience. Both of us throroughly enjoyed are meals - her "en croute" came out steaming, moist ... more

My husband and I go here all the time for crabcakes and wine. And the entrees are great too....highly recommend the char and some lobster mash potatoes. Unless you're a fisherman, you won't find fresher fish anywhere in Milwaukee.

Pros

+ Seafood, atmosphere, service

Cons

- pricey, off the beaten path

We love to make a weekend of Milwaukee and we came up Friday night to stay until the Paul McCartney show on Sunday. We checked out Moceans Saturday, based on the precious reviews here and on the reassurance of the doorman at the Pfister. In short, the food was good, but not for the prices being charged. And the "Insider Tip" of having to wait hours is a complete exaggeration as there were numerous ... more

Last night (10/15/05) was my first time here and I would have to say that it will not be my last time. The service cannot be compared as it is the best I have ever experienced. They make you feel like you are the only one there. The food is excellent. I was very impressed with this place and would recommend it to anyone.
