This is primarily a college bar, but the patrons hail from many different social niches, and sports memorabilia covers the walls. You can join the crowds inside or relax in the beer garden outside. The place serves excellent sandwiches and other pub grub. The selection of libations is amazing. There are many beers on tap (no dark ones however), and a fine array of fine liquors reaches up to the ceiling ... more

In Short The casual, fun atmosphere is summed up with a sign that admonishes, "Beware of the man who does not drink." Sure, it's noisy and on weekends you may get soaked with spillage, but you may also meet your next date over an order of buffalo wings. Numerous beers on tap, cheap happy-hour drinks, nightly specials and pub grub draws college students and 20-somethings with booze, sports ... more

Desperate for a place to watch the baseball playoff game this past Saturday night, my wife and I ended up at Mission Ale House, our fourth or fifth choice. We hadn't been in a couple years, as it had progressively turned from decent place to get a drink into gross downtown-San-Jose-wannabe-club. And it worse it was. They used to have a great beer selection, particularly for downtown SJ, but they've ... more

Me and a friend went here for the first and only time based on another friends recommendation of the good and bad that she has seen. We thought that we would try it out. It was a club that appealed to us, had a drink and went on the dance floor. The way the club is set up there is no reason you need to walk through the dance floor, but people do it anyway, as long as your not rude and pushing people ... more

Best Bartender Ever!

I have been going there with a group of friends after work for about 3 weeks and there is the nicest, cutest, and funniest bartender there named Kimi. So sweet in fact that I thought I would let you all know! From woman to woman ladies can be kind of rude but she was so cool. She introduced us to a bunch of the regulars, who we have since become pals with and we have even gone out with them. She makes ... more

I love Mission! My friends and I have been loyal patrons eversince we turned 21. It's the place to go when there are no specific plans for the weekend b/c you'll run into people you know and the weekend will roll on from there out! Bartenders are super friendly and prompt in their service .. they make the best drinks too! Try their Fusion line of infused vodkas .. pretty impressive for a college ... more

Mission Ale's was great when if first opened. A great crowd, good bartendars. Now it is over-packed. The drinks are watered down and I've even had drinks that don't even closely resemble what i ordered. There is a cool pool area if you want to just hang out and the back patio area is a nice idea if it wasn't so crowded. It seems to me like a long wait and a LOT of people for something that isn't all ... more

I wasn't too impressed with Mission Ale House when I went: the drinks were very weak, the croud was mostly frat-boys, and it gets really, really packed in there. However, there is a lovely patio.

This place used to be known for the hot chicks that work there. USED TO BE. The security has 'roid rage about baseball hats. The employees are either "put out" to be working or generally in bad moods. Can't decide. Happy hour is the only time I'll go there now. What happened?
