I've been to Maggianos in different cities. They're similar but each has a bit of location Identification. Here in Denver it is right off the mall and close to big hotels and near entertainment. Good location. And in warmer weather they have a place to sit out doors.

What draws us here are the great bar offerings, and heaping platefuls of food. We don't even bother with an appetizer. The one thing I've noticed, though, is that pretty much all their food tastes sweeter than any other Italian I've had (especially their house salad, oddly enough). The food here is acceptable but not worth going out of your way for. The no reservations policy is horrible. They actually think you should stand in line for their food and it's really not worth it. Once you get in, they tend to put the tables much too close together, you actually rub shoulders with people at the table next to you. Overall a poor experience.

I have been to Maggiano's 2 times, both times with groups over 8 people. Each time, they have tried to force us into their "family-style" menu (they have 2 different menus). The "family-style" menu costs $20-$30 per person, and is 4-5 courses. Bill-O-Fare... An Overpriced excuse for Authentic Italian Cuisine. The service was good, the atmosphere was a cross between Trail Dust Steak House and an older wood laden Olive Garden. It's a chain, how good can it be ?

Anyone rating this place as great, is caught up in the hype of quantity and popularity. The food is ok, but not great, it's a chain. The atmosphere is good the service was good, but the food was average. The pasta was overcooked, the sauce bland. How can you make good sauce by the 1,000 gallon method? I will stick with my local family-run place.

Worst Dining Experience of 2002

My wife and I went to the new Maggiano's on Dry Creek. It was the worst dining experience we have ever had at a restaurant. We waited 30 minutes even with a reservation. We were treated rudely by the host, the service was slow and poor. The food was not hot when we were finally served. The food quality and taste was not good.
