We had a very good time. The expectations were high with the price, but the room was clean if a little on the small side, but the atmosphere was great. The staff was very accommodating and overall it was an enjoyable stay. I would gladly stay there again.

Likes: Good location, friendly staff and clean rooms with quality amenities and a comfy bed.
Dislikes: For this price it's outrageous that they charge for wi-fi. Friends staying in another hotel a block away have equal amenities for a similar price and their wi-fi isn't $10/day (it's free). And, for this price, you'd think the connection would be fast and reliable. Not so. I value access,... more

Central Location and a nice place to stay

My stay at this hotel was very nice. I think the rooms had been recently renovated. The light and power district which is a old part of town that they have revived with a bunch of different restaurants, bars and hang-out spots is about 4 to 5 blocks away - an easy walk. The convention center is right across the... more

Nice hotel in the Power & Light district, located right next to the KC Convention Center. Stayed in the Muehlebach Tower of the Marriott, which evidently Marriott built within the last 10 years, joining the historical Muehlebach Hotel with the Marriott. There is now a skybridge that connects the new tower with the Marriott. The rooms are nice, comfortable, and... more

We stayed here for a week for a conference and I was very impressed. I arrived on the train very late and the hotel staff helped me all along the way. Get your walking shoes on though this is a big place. The food for the conference was wonderful. They put on such a spread and again the staff were... more

The Marriot was a one of the hotels participating in the conference I was attending, so I chose them based on their proximity to the convention center-- just across the park and down the street. The hotel was very clean, well appointed, and comfy. Bed was great--very cushy, with great big fluffy duvet. Staff was friendly and helpful. Views from... more

Mediocre Service, Aging Hotel

Normally I enjoy staying at Marriott hotels, as they are very consistent and provide a quality stay. This hotel, however, was an exception. The hotel (both towers) appear dated with worn elevators and old-style Marriott carpets and wallpaper. The upper floors in the Annex Tower were, however, being updated but were being worked on at 10pm so you could hear... more

My husband and I went to Kansas City for the Ribfest, which was occurring for the first time in KC. Usually we go to the Ribfest in St. Louis, but were out of town for that so we decided to try KC. We picked the Marriott because some friends of ours were performing on the music stage on Saturday evening... more

I stayed one night at this beautiful, huge hotel, and I was extremely impressed with the cleanliness and comfort of the room and the precise service of the staff. All staff I encoutered--valets, bellhops, room service, and housekeepers--were outstandingly fast and careful, even though the hotel is vast and very busy. Good service means a lot to me. The room... more

Wonderful hotel. Centrally located to many downtown activities. Hotel rooms have been recently updated. My room had new furnishings. I have stayed here over the course of the last three years and rooms have been updated. Staff is excellent. Enjoyed both of the restaurants--Lily's and Pam Pam. Ate at both several times.

I visited the Marriott Downtown with a large group of college students for a convention in February. The hotel is big and beautiful, comprising both the new Marriott Downtown and the historic Muehlbach Tower. We were staying in Muehlback Tower, which was very quiet considering it was in a busy downtown area. Our hotel room had a beautiful window, but... more

We were at the Downtown Kansas City Marriott for four nights in early March in connection with a convention. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again if we had activities in downtown Kansas City--the convention center, Folly Theater and Music Hall are all within a block. For most attractions, a taxi or bus is necessary, e.g. the amazing... more

The hotel is in the heart of downtown Kansas City which is good if you are doing things at the convention center, but bad for anything else as most activities occur outside the downtown area. But the hotel is well kept up, clean and modern.

Check in was done quickly, even with a large group of people arriving in a short time. The beds and the bedding were excellent. I was disappointed that only one of two restaurants was open with a large conference centered there. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to others.

The location was ok. The service was above average. I would stay there again. It was very good value, it had excellent room service that was always on time. The staff and the room were wonderful. On reservation I requested a room near the elevator for health reasons. The room was as far as possible from the elevator and the staff was uncooperative about changing. My stay was not as enjoyable as it could have been, as I stayed in my room unless needed for meetings.

We stayed here during a weekend wedding. Our service was horrible. First of all, the hotel blocked off parking because they overbooked the hotel, so we were essentially trapped inside the place all weekend. Thankfully, we were within walking distance to the wedding (the location is excellent, I do have to say). We missed out on the Plaza, shopping, everything else KC has to offer!
