Italian store in east Dallas is popular for homemade sausages, sauce and meats, plus sandwiches and imported food products.

The place to find authentic food products for all your Italian recipes

We often pull out old recipes that are very specific concerning what pasta, prosciutto, cheese or sauce to be used. Jimmy's will have it. Most items in the grocery store, including the wine, are what we would buy in Italy at Despar; but be forewarned the prices are not.

Order up a sandwich and let them make it while you shop,

The staff is extremely knowledgeable. The entire feeling of the... more

Good selection of cheeses, wines and more. A little hard to get to and not open on Sundays, though.

Pros

+ Great Italian Finds

Cons

- Not Open On Sundays

Very nice grocery, but so-so sandwich shop.

For years a friend has spoken highly of Jimmy?s Food Store sandwiches. D Magazine also touted the sandwiches, particularly the spicy Cuban sandwich. I finally went to Jimmy?s and ordered the Cuban. The woman at the sandwich counter asked if I wanted hot sauce with it. ?The hotter the better? I said. What I got, after a long wait, was the Caprese sandwich, a cold, bland concoction of tomato,... more

Jimmy's is one of the biggest reasons I miss Dallas. Yeah, the sandwiches are incredible, but if you like to cook, this place is just amazing! The italian sausage is great, broken up into a pomodoro sauce or lasagna, or just thrown onto the grill in the casing. Lots of different prosciutto, and a huge selection of cheeses. A very nice bottled wine selection, and if you don't see what you... more

Great sandwiches, great groceries... you will want to live near Jimmy's

I read about Jimmy's Cuban sandwiches a year or two ago in a "best of" article in D magazine. Unfortunately since we live in the northern suburbs, BFE in relation to Dallas, we were never in the neighborhood early enough for sandwiches at Jimmy's, until today.

Sandwiches are made until 7:00 pm. I had the Cuban (yes, with the hot sauce) , because I had been coveting it for about two years. It... more

There is no place like Jimmy's - it is simply the best there is! Awesome Italian sandwiches and they are even experts at making Cuban sandwiches. The "My Sisters" desert line is fantastic, especially the fig cookies and Italian Cream cake. Great meatballs and sausage - if you have never been there all I can say is GO!!!

Pros

+ Great food, autentic atmosphere

I dream about this place!

Jimmy's is the kind of small Italian grocery store that is very rare in Dallas. Fabulous sausage, meatballs, cheeses, salami, wines.....and a cuban sandwich that I am obsessed with. Besides that, a very reasonably priced produce section. Charming, unique and fabulous.

Pros

+ love it!

Jimmy's has completely recovered and expanded from the fire in 2004, and is better than ever. It's a grocery store, it's a meat market, it's a small sandwich shop, and most importantly to my Brooklyn-born, Italian wife, it is one of the only quality Italian markets in Dallas. Jimmy's has products that aren't available anywhere else in the Metroplex. (We found them originally when I asked a... more

This place should be rated a local treasure, however that happens... Truly a little treasure in East Dallas. Try that Prosciutto Panini, pressed or the Cuban. Man, good stuff, Mama!

Cannoli rocks and you wont find a better meatball sub anywhere. Geopunk is right on the money. I was introduced to this place by my friend Jimmy DePalma. I would have never found this treasure without him.

Absolutely the bomb. I could spend a day wandering around this place and its only got like 5 aisles. You must get the cuban sandwich. Then you must get a freshly made cannoli. Then you can leave with a half dozen more and wish that your wife doesn't eat them before you get to them. Just thinking about them makes me want to get up and go get one... more

I agree.....a few things to note... Jimmy's is about to start closing on Sundays on March 23, sad news for us in the hood as my wife and I would often split an Italian Stallion all the way, and a Cuban with hot sauce on those lazy days. And dont be a sissy and skip the hot sauce either.... If you go there for lunch during the week get there by 11:15 or the crush of yuppies from downtown will... more

They have a fabulous selection of fresh meats, including sweet or hot Italian sausage, and the broccoli rabe Italian sausage is wonderful! We are big fans of the cuccidati and the Italian cream cake as well.

Best Italian Sub in town!! Jimmy's is such a great place! I call our order in, then go pick it up to save time. It's always busy at lunch time. =)

Tried the Cuban sandwich for the first time last night - and now I know why you get the sauce on the side - wicked hot stuff !! Apply sparingly and you'll have an awesome sandwich. Jimmy's is a delight for anyone who loves to cook or loves Italian food and wine. I plan to visit there more often.
