Editorial Reviews from the web
It seems a little strange to chow down on Southeast Asian food in an utterly New Orleans-style hotel, but this is South Florida -- the wackier, the better. The not-so-traditional meal begins with a basket of pappadams, puffy naan bread, and shrimp-puff bread. Next might be a super-rich grilled vegetable cassoulet au gratin and a fried-rice dish with shallots, corn, and asparagus; or pizzas...

A touch of New Orleans hits Fort Lauderdale's popular Las Olas Boulevard in the form of this charming, six-story 1936 hotel. There's no beach here, but the hotel is located on the sleepy and scenic New River, capturing the essence of that ever-elusive Old Florida. Guest rooms are a bit nicer than the public areas (outfitted in Mexican tile and wicker furnishings); they're both spacious and well...

We got on deal on hotels.com for $99.00 a night. Parking was extra, I believe it was about $13.00, real convenient though, parking garage has elevator to the lobby. Once in the lobby, check in was smooth and friendly. Once in the room, it was comfortable and clean. The hotel is from the 1930's but has been updated many times....

This is a nice older property in a great location. Easy to walk to restaurants and shops nearby, and a nice lounge / garden area. My room was clean, but definitely needed to be updated. Nice tile in the bathroom, but the pictures and furnishings are just out of date. The bed was horrible, but other than that it was...

We were a party of six (over 60) who stayed at this hotel for four nights post-cruise. We originally stayed in another hotel in Fort Lauderdale pre-cruise but on our travels came across THE RIVERSIDE and could not go past it. This is the best thing we did as it was the perfect end to our holiday. It was everything...

Stayed there through Fay in August 2008, business trip, in the Tower on the 12th floor. Good room, ok shower, balcony, but the plastic balcony furniture was inside the room to save it being flung around by the storm. Bathroom nothing special , bit Hiltony, and ugly little soaps etc. Bring your laundry to check in by 9am for same...

We had an overnight here and booked based on reviews from this website and other travel guides. It was a fast car ride from the airport and we stayed in a tower room with a balcony and a great view of the riverwalk. The room was clean and it had a spacious bathroom. The bar was lively with a mix...

This hotel is perfect location if you want to be amongst a lively or relaxing setting. The choice is yours. The journey from Miami airport takes 40 - 50mins and cost around $80 with tip. The people staying in the hotel varied from our age range (late 30s) up to retired. The main stay was probably business customers, but this...

This was our second stay at the Riverside. Previously stayed at the hotel during for a conference three years ago. Returned for one night during the last leg of a Florida vacation in late April. Got a very good deal online through Expedia. We stayed in the new part of the hotel. Our room was bigger than some of the...

I just returned from a three night stay here with two girlfriends and I loved it! We had a room in the newer tower section with two double beds. The room was quite large and the bathroom was spacious as well. We pulled a chair over by the closet's full length mirror so two people could do makeup at one...

Stayed in one of the rooms in the executive tower for a night before leaving on a 7 day cruise out of Port Canaveral. Very clean and elegant with friendly and helpful staff. Los Olas Blvd is very interesting place, we walked around and did some shopping. Plenty of dining options nearby. Around $20 cab fare to here from FLL...

This was a one-night, pre-cruise stay. Our room was not ready on time (actually it was not ready until after 5pm) , but (without asking), we were given 10% off the room rate and coupon for free breakfast. Based on Trip Advisor reviews, we stayed in the new tower, which was very nice; asked for and received a late check...

Perhaps it was bad luck but I had to try three rooms before I got a decent room. One of the rooms had an unflushed toilet with and used bathroom towels! The internet did not work in any of the rooms. Had to go to the lobby a couple of times to use the wireless. The sole person manning the valet parking was literally running the whole time they were so understaffed.

I ate breakfast at Indigo in mid-December. Very dismal experience. A so-so breakfast of eggs, steak and limp potato chunks. Not even a fruit garnish on the plate. Service was slow on both ends, and...

This Las Olas Blvd hotel consistes of an older section as discribed by Fodors below (1930s) and a brand new section. The rooms in the new section are quite nice, many (but not all) overlook the New River. There is tons of condo construction in the area, but that doesn't inpead on the serenity of this hotel (but it may cut off some of the great views).

Here, the Penne with Jumbo Shrimp, Asparagus and sun dried tomatoes in Vodka sauce was without a doubt the best pasta dish I've had in years and we...

I guess the strongest commentary and vote of confidence I can give any Hotel is my own reservation. I travel extensively, business and the Riverside Hotel, is my choice for either an intimate weekend or as a recommendation for visitors. The Riverside is central to the best of South Florida, beaches, shopping, entertainment. The Staff is exceedingly accommodating and friendly and The Grill Room,...
