Editorial Reviews from the web
In Short Since its 1952 debut in Memphis, Tenn., Holiday Inn has become one of the most recognized hotel brands in the world. Kids rule here: Children age 19 and younger stay for free when sharing a parent's room and as many as four children per family (age 12 or younger) eat for free at hotel restaurants. Other amenities include 24-hour business services, an in-room coffeemaker,...

If you're unlucky enough to be stuck in downtown Des Moines (it's actually not that bad), this is a great location to stay. There are numerous bars and restaurants within walking distance and we paid less than $75 for our room.
This hotel was booked for me by an agency and I didn't have much choice, as caucus time in Des Moines means hotel rooms are at a premium. I had a room with one king bed, a mirrored wall (boy, don't need that in the morning) and bath. No fridge or microwave, which became very tiresome during the week I...

I travel to Des Moines a lot for business and its always difficult to get a room. I've stayed at the Holiday inn a few times as a last resort but never enjoyed it. The food is bad, the bar is smokey and the rooms are old. Its far from town - but not far enough to take a cab....

Found ourselves in downtown Des Moines needing a room and saw the Holiday inn from a distance. We went in and asked if there were rooms available... courteous staff was very helpful. Of course, as soon as we got to the rooms we knew it was a mistake... everything was so old and dated -- the rug looked like it...

Staying at the Mercy Campus Holiday Inn - Very nice - CLEAN and the staff were always very nice. It is not the "Four Seasons" - but an economical hotel that is close to downtown and 1 block from the Mercy Hospital Campus. Food at the hotel is okay - nothing grand, but good. Bar was nice - and the...

The only reason I stayed at this hotel was because I booked a downtown hotel through Priceline, and this is what I got. I would never pay to stay here. The lobby looked great, the pool was heated and was really nice. The resturant looked very nice. The room was a different story. On both mattress's, there were large rust...

I stayed at the Downtown Holiday Inn for two nights in mid February 2007 because I was in Des Moines for a board meeting. I went through [--] for the room. I have stayed at this hotel a number of times over the years and each time it is either really bad, better or nice. This time was one of...

Would stay again in a heartbeat. The hotel was sparkling clean and the staff, very friendly. Easy downtown location, but what makes it even better...... you don't have to pay $12-$14 to park your car. It's free. It is not walking distance to downtown restaurants and activities. It is a very short drive. We had the breakfast buffet and loved...

I have stayed at this Holiday Inn several times on business. The front desk, among other hotel staff, always greet & acknowledge me with a friendly 'welcome back, mr.....'. The front desk staff is young but all seem very friendly and motivated. The Lobby, Restaurant, and Lounge all flow right into each other and are very convenient. There is a...

Typical run down holiday inn. Heat and AC in rooms to not work. In poor condition as a whole, stay somewhere else.
