Business Description from the Web

Floyd, NY may model itself on the vinyl-sided bars of rural America, but it still belongs in Brooklyn, what with its bocce ball tourneys (yes, there’s actually a 40-foot clay court running the length of the bar) and Guinness taps. Which may go a long way toward explaining why Floyd’s is such an affable watering hole for local yokels, who congregate at the wooden bar or “living room,” complete... more

In the mating of subdued Midwest kitsch and Brooklyn-brownstone cool, a mutt was born, and like most mutts, this one's more loveable than its purebred cousins. The eclectic double-storefront bar is visually divided by conversation-friendly groupings of antique couches, comfy leather chairs, high- and low-top tables and a long salvaged bar. The walls further create the illusion of multiple... more

IRRESPONSIBLE BAR ALLOWS CHILDREN TO RUN AROUND!

Ok - this is INSANE! A bar - that allows BABIES AND CHILDREN!????? HOW INAPPROPRIATE! What's next? Allowing Parent's to bring their children in strip clubs?!! C'mon people! If you have a baby - you are expected to make sacrifices. If you aren't prepared to make sacrifices, like going to a bar - you shouldn't be having children. It's downright IRRESSPONSIBLE. Both on the parents and the... more

warning: kids running in this bar

I went to Floyd few days ago, together with my friends. We wanted to stay for a drink. However, to my astonishment, we saw kids running in the bar! We went somewhere else. A bar is supposed to be a place where people meet friends and rest. It's not a place where customers go to look at someone's kids running or listening to their noise.

If you are looking for a kindergarten, not a bar, this... more

Best jukebox around

I recently moved to Brooklyn Heights and can't praise Floyd enough for being the best bar in the neighborhood. The couches are unique, cute, and comfy, and on a weeknight there's usually a puppy or two in the crowd. The bocce court is a unique, fun touch, and the jukebox is so far the best I've found in the city. Also, when you choose songs, they actually play them -- you don't get the... more

Jumped the shark

It didn't take long for Floyd to become too popular for it's own good. It's still a great spot if you get there early and leave before the masses arrive, but otherwise it's like any other crowded bar now with a bocce court that's impossible to play on during peak hours.

Pros

+ Couches, good jukebox, Bocce mania

Cons

- Bocce mania, B&T, no elbow room

Buckets of beer....what,you want more?

There $12 six pack of cheapy beer in a bucket is better than any pitcher. They also show old movies and/or the game of the night on a projection screen. Plus a boche ball track....if the line isn't out the door to play!

Pros

+ nightly specials, nice atmosphere

Cons

- local college crowd, standing room only

Bocce Heaven

If you are looking for a cool, unpretentious, cheap, laid back bar, this is the place. Lots of couches and lounge space, and the Bocce court is so much fun. I'd never played before but it is the perfect bar sport, whether your harassing your friends who are playing or taking a few tosses yourself. Also great laid back atmosphere for meeting people, and if you like indie music you'll love... more

Wow the booci ball lane is so fun. The atmosphere is laid back and fun. Great famous bartender and nice sofas. The london football fans gets a bit rowdy.

Bars with boche ball are clearly the best! Even if you don't play boche, Floyd is an excellent spot to hang out with friends. And their monthly LGBT night is always quite fun!

What else can I say about a place with a mini Foos-ball table, lounge-like couches, an enormous TV, and a Bocce Court all in the same space?? The bartenders are great, the atmosphere is laid-back and unpretentious, and... more
