I've stayed at the Embassy Suites several times and each time it has been a great place to stay. The presidential suite is especially nice. During the summer there are concerts at the Simon Estes Theater, its really nice to get a room after the concert. Clean rooms, comfortable beds and the free breakfast is good too. Its in a really cool part of the city too, East Village has some of the... more

Excellent Customer Service, OVER-Sized Rooms, Clean and very nice hoteI. I have stayed at 5 star resorts and I was pleasantly surpised to see the attention of the staff here, upon my late arrival. We stayed here 4 nights as part of a class reunion, and were pleasantly surprised. It's convenient to downtown but simple to reach with a car as well. We have stayed at Embassy Suites elsewhere, and these rooms seemed larger. The double beds were clean and fresh looking. The bedroom was a bit sparse, but had a second sink area... more

We stayed in Des Moines on the way from Ohio to Yellowstone. We were originally set to stay at the Residence Inn in West Des Moines, only because it was a Sunday night and we thought maybe there wouldn't be much happening downtown. We got to town, walked all over and were pleasantly surprised! We decided to switch our reservation... more

Great value for a high end hotel. Staff couldn't do enough to please. Only shortcoming was the exercise room where the equipment was old and clearly not chosen by someone who works out alot.

My husband and I decided to explore Des Moines for our anniversary this year. This hotel was a great "home base" for us as we explored the city! Every morning we fueled up at their fantastic (and complimentary) breakfast buffet. Made-to-order omelets, belgian waffles, fresh fruit, cereal, sausage, bacon, there was a ton to choose from! I am a light... more

Two Things You Need to Know Before Staying at this Hotel

Nice hotel but there are are 2 important things to know in advance: 1. On Saturday nights during the summer, there are outdoor converts on a stage between the hotel and the river. It is VERY loud and goes until around 11pm. If you want to go to sleep early-ask for a room on the east side of the hotel.... more

I spent a night here while in town for business. Great location, overlooking the river and just a short walk to downtown. There is a hotel free shuttle that takes you to dinner and shopping if your desire. I opted for a 10 min walk to Splash, a seafood restaurant just across the bridge; great service and food. The rooms... more

Nice Hotel in the downtown area next to the river. What a beautiful view. Unlike most large city downtown areas, I felt very safe. They do not seem to have any problems with grubby nasty vagrants. It seemed perfectly safe to stroll around. Rooms were nice, although ladies you should be warned there is not a separate wall mount swingarm... more

The Embassy Suites in Des Moines is a beautiful place to stay. The area is a safe place to take the kids and walk to the sites. The Capital building is only 5 or 6 blocks to the east and is a neat site to see at night with the golden dome all light up. The river front is also beautiful to go and look at. It was very easy to get to from the interstate even with all the construction going on.

Fantastic and beautiful hotel. In the heart of downtown Des Moines - close to many fine restaurants and to the Civic Center. The evening reception and cooked-to-order breakfast were wonderful. The staff was especially friendly and helpful. The room far exceeded our expectations and we had a great time. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone!

I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay there again myself. Even when asking for a room change b/c our first room was across from the elevator and a bit noisy, the staff were understanding and found us a different room, matching our preference. Within walking distance to the Wells Fargo Arena, a great place to stay and walk to a show.

Well located on the river and downtown. Easy parking but I would like a doorman and the access doors are manual and bringing in luggage is difficult if you have a lot.

We really enjoyed our stay. I would have preferred to not have been given a smoking" room as we don't smoke and the smell lingers but it is a busy weekend during the State Tournament.
