The margaritas are hallucinogenic but the food is atrocious. The interior is very cool though - filled with kitsch. Sharon Tate had her last meal here.

Ok, contrary to the prior review, I love this place. The servers are so friendly and their costume attire is adorable (even if a bit cheesy). The food does NOT stink. It may not be like being in Mexico, but the food is pretty tasty and their salsa is delicious. My wife an I had the misfortune of dining here while meeting up with friends for a night out. Forget the valet, it took 45 min just to get in the driveway while all the cars waiting are blocking traffic on Beverly Blvd. All of the surrounding streets are permit only! This must have been an old editorial review. A group of co-workers and I recently went to El Coyote on a Friday night. The waitress insisted they do not have a Happy Hour. Their premium margaritas were terrible and cost me more than $8.00 a piece!

If this is good Mexican food, no wonder so many Mexican citizens are leaving Mexico. Seriously, folks, this is food for those without taste buds or for those who have never really had good Mexican cuisine, for which there is no match. Or for those who get so blitzed on Margueritas (which are not bad, by the way) they wouldn't know whether what they were eating was a tamale or a tambourine.

The Yo is a great place to hang, meet friends and have mean margaritas. But don't expect more than that. The food is mediocre at best. American cheese on tacos? Come on. But after some tequila shots you'll probably think you're in Mexico.

I went after work one night with about 15 of my friends. It was a great place to go with a ton of people. It has a great Spanish atmosphere, the waitresses wear those long red Spanish dresses and there's mariachi music in the background. The food is pretty good, not spectacular, but I'm not complaining and I'd go back. The margaritas are awesome though!

Great for groups, margaritas that will have you calling a cab and professing your love to the security guard. Always a celeb in sight, and lots of people who wish they were.... Most are too drunk to notice. It's my favorite place to go, lunch or dinner.

Not what you hope it will be. The bottom line is they serve great margaritas, it's huge with plenty of room for all your friends, even the ones you didn't know were showing up, and the food is pretty bad, but passable after two or three Hornitos-laced margaritas. We all keep going back there because it's a great place to hook up with friends. Cheers to the many drunken nights we've all enjoyed... more

You don't go here for great food (although the mexican pizza appetizer is pretty good) but it is a great people watching experience plus the waitresses are in big hoop skirts and the lighting is dim. Also it's cheap.

What's not to like? This joint isn't going to break anyone's budget. A dinner here, is under $10, and the drinks are pretty cheap, too. It's a great place to go after work. The only down side is at peak hours, the wait is unbearable.

I can't believe this place has the audacity to try and pass off what it serves as being Mexican food. It lacked any good flavor and texture of its food is reminiscent of dried rubber glue. Probably our favorite Mexican Restaraunt ever. The food is good with a great price. We've had several Birthday celebrations here because we knew our guests would love the place. The staff are wonderful. El Cotote is a haven for the well known and the not so well known. Its trendy while having that down home feel.

Makes you laugh with memories of the way this entire tacky city was until it developed airs in the 1980s. You had to have a colorful, goofy El Coyote if your best restaurant was The Brown Derby -- shaped like a brown derby. Even if you're too young, go and pretend to remember.
