Business Description from the Web
This hotel is cheap and very basic, but it has been recently renovated. Most rooms are small with modern decor, although the larger loft-style rooms have more character. Probably the Cosmopolitan's best asset is that it is located in the trendy Tribeca district, near such fun spots as The Odeon , and upscale restaurants like Bouley . It is also easily accessible to Soho, the South Street...

Rooms are newly renovated and include private bath and color TV (with Cartoon Network on the cable system). The hotel does not have a restaurant on site, or room service, but local restaurants abound, and many deliver.
Finding a good, affordable Downtown hotel can be tricky. Enter the Cosmopolitan, a no-frills hotel in Tribeca that’s a best bet for those in search of a quiet place to crash without breaking the bank. The rooms won't wow you with their decor, nor are they spacious, but most of the twenty-somethings who stay here seem happy just to have found an affordable place to sleep without having to crash...

Editorial Reviews from the web
The Scene Built in 1850, this hotel is one of the oldest in New York, and it has a fascinating history. Abraham Lincoln slept here. So did Navy Seal teams and Salvation Army volunteers after September 11--it's just blocks from the World Trade Center site. Because of the trendy neighborhood it occupies, finding a decent bite to eat shouldn't be a problem. Some of the city's greatest...

Something less than cosmopolitan, not as Tribeca feeling as the address might indicate. Downtown and clean, but low in the frill department. Holds its own as low-maintenance option during Tribeca Film Festival. Smallish rooms with double beds. White furniture matched with gray curtains, bedspreads, and walls. Area can be fun to walk around in, though deserted streets and proximity to Ground...

The Cosmopolitan, located in southern Tribeca, is geared to the needs of out-of-town visitors and has affordable rooms in a great location. It is nearby many major subway lines (the express stop right outside the hotel takes you to the theater district in midtown in ten minutes) and within walking distance of Chinatown, the World Trade Center, the Financial District, Battery Park, City Hall and...

Hiding behind a plain-vanilla TriBeCa awning is one of the best hotel deals in Manhattan for budget travelers who prefer a private bathroom. Everything is strictly budget, but nice: The modern IKEA-ish furniture includes a work desk and an armoire (a few rooms have a dresser and hanging rack instead); for a few extra bucks, you can have a love seat, too. Beds are comfy, and sheets and towels...

The staff was very friendly, we had a spacious (spacious for NYC hotel rooms) 5 person room and our total for 5 nights was around $1,349. There were built in drawers and cabinets for all of our stuff. Because there were 5 of us trying to get ready, we had several appliances plugged in and we blew a fuse more than once. Each time, the staff tended to it promptly. We also requested extra...

I reserved a room for my friends 3 months in advance, and I called back for confirmation 2 wks prior to their arrival. Hotel said "Sorry your reservation has been cancelled".. I tried to argue but there was nothing they can do. What is the point of reservation at this hotel anyway?
Cons
- Obviously they don't take reservations.

Came back again to NYC and brought two more people. We stayed here again. Once again, we were not disappointed. Room was small, but it accomodated four adults just fine. Location was great for what we needed. IT WAS CLEAN. Very clean hotel for the price. The amenities were few, but a call to the front desk ALWAYS brought what we needed. Ice, Ironing board, etc. We love this place, and will most...

Cheap prices but great value. One of the cleanest hotels I've ever been to, regardless of price.

after traveling to the city approximately 6-7 times a year and staying in the cosmopolitan for an evening i do know for a fact that there are better deals and hotels for the same and sometimes less money if you are prepared to do some searching and some homework.

I stayed in the cosmo for one night at the end of august, and all in all it was a nice hotel. The room was small, but is didn't matter at all. We had enough room for the luggage, it was well furnished and very nicely decorated, and it was really warmth and cosy. The room was clean spotless!! The...

My girlfiend and I stayed here for four nights in early September and both of us were really pleased with the hotel. It's location is super - you literally fall down Chambers Street subway station when you exit the front door, and all of south Manhattan upto about Canal Street is easily walkable if you are fit enough! There are...

Although the room we had was small it was spotlessly clean and the staff were very helpful. We stayed for 6 nights and it was great value for money. We were on the verge of cancelling our trip because hotels were so expensive given it was Thanksgiving week when we were there. It certainly isn't a fancy hotel but it...

Hotel has rooms that have 2 queen beds and a queen sleeper sofa. Bathroom has a sink and there is a sink outside the bathroom as well, very useful. Room was spacious, soaring ceilings which increased the feeling of space. Very comfortable for the 5 of us, did not feel claustraphobic at all, room looked onto air well, no street...

Stayed just one night which was perfect as it was cheap. But the room was too small for a longer stay, and there's no breakfast (but good places next door). VERY clean. Super part of town as you can walk to Little Italy/Chinatown etc.
Stayed here in 2006. No question but we would stay here again. Great location for subway - The A train from JFK, almost direct to the hotel door. Huge number of subway lines converge on Chambers St or very close by. On the Subway map, City Hall & Park Place look further from hotel than they actually are. Buy a...

Looking for an affordable hotel to stay in while in NYC that was clean, convenient, had a private bath and was under $250/night landed me at this hotel. I was not disappointed at all; it met all of the requirements! Suggested to our friends they stay here as well and they were equally as satisfied. We would definitely return.

This hotel was built in the 1840's!. Although the rooms are small, and the bathroom makes you feel like using an airplane lavatory, this hotel was a great stay. Overall, it looks renovated just recently, the lobby and front desk are proportional to the rooms. Location is good. Steps from the 1,2 and 3 subway lines, other lines are two...

This was an excellent choice for us to start our trip off in the US. We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights and found the location of the hotel to be outstanding with many of the subway lines located directly outside of the hotel. It is in the financial district so the area does become a bit quiet at...

My 1st stay in New York so didn't really know where to stay. Was on a budget therefore couldn't just choose the more expensive and 'safe bet' hotels. After much research decided to book the Cosmopolitan Hotel. What a lucky choice! The room and bathroom were small but I was travelling alone so that was fine. This was overcome anyway...

Terrific location in neighborhood of Tribeca, why stay uptown with many restaurants (Nobu and Odeon) neaarby and with much to explore in this part of the city? Subway out front, one block to another Subway line; Starbucks at front door...2 blocks to WTC site, Century 21 department store for mega-bargains, and a few blocks north to Soho/ Chinatown. Clean hotel, friendly service, plain decor...

Great location. Within walking distance to everything. Clean rooms and good service. Subway not far from front door. Great food close by and very good night life
Although this hotel is in a great location, had wireless internet, and had a pretty lobby, this was the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. There are no nonsmoking rooms available so if you have an allergy to cigarette smoke there is nothing that they can do. When I first entered the room, it was hot, stuffy and the air was thick from cigarette smoke. When I made my reservation and when...

Four stars based on the overall value (and comparing prices to other areas.) I’ve stayed here many times. Rooms are always very clean, though definitely small and usually without a view. Desk service is minimal and brusque, but they get the job done. Very convenient to the subway (and great burgers across the street at Mudville.) I’d strongly recommend this hotel for solo travelers or...

Recent hotel guests have said: "Fine location, very convenient, very clean rooms and friendly service." "A refreshing stay. Didn't mind the small room." "Much nicer than a big hotel, we felt relaxed there in lower Manhattan." "Wonderful! Subway stops right outside the hotel."
The Cosmo is right in there. The subway is right in front of it, Ground zer and the Finacial District is a 10 min walk away. The Cosmo is very well maintained and cleaned. THe staff, expecially Wagnor, are kind, and helpful. The would put the person on the phone on hold to take care of you first. THere is a little resturaunt next door called "The Soda Shop". Eat there, its excellent. Overall:...

It was clean, but had a very small room. The staff was not especially friendly. It was a great value though.
this is the only hotel i recommend to people who are visiting nyc. great location, good price, book in advance. the rooms are small - but so are all hotel rooms in nyc, relatively speaking - but no sharing bathrooms
The rooms were huge! Everything was so nice. The rooms were always clean! I loved it!
This hotel made me feel entertained: There were always brochures of things to do.
