Not Recommended Place to Bring Your Pet

As a pet owner for many years, I've experienced various quality of service provided at Veterinary Hospitals, That said, I would NEVER bring my pet to Cooper Square Veterinary Hospital in NYC. The main veterinarian here, Dr Gagliardi is plain awful! He has absolutely NO bedside manners, communicates to you as if he is all knowing as he dismisses your inputs, he does not have much eye contact when he talks to you, he does not provide you with options as it pertains to your pet's care, boasts that he provided you with discounts, he is excessively arrogant, and the list goes on. Dr. Gagliardi and his staff have been so wonderful to me and my puppy. They have answered all my new owner questions, made time on their calendar immediately when she caught a cold and encourage calling with any questions anytime. I could not have found a better vet and staff to help me raise the pup. I would recommend this practice to any pet owner in the downtown area. You are in good hands.

My girlfriend has been taking our pet to this location on and off for a little over 3 years, but only because its so close to home. I attended a visit once but never again. The owner, Dr. Gagliardi, was extremely unfriendly and had an air of annoyance with us. At the end of our visit, which lasted roughly 3 hours and most was spent in the lobby waiting to be seen, we were rushed out as I heard him mentioning he was late for his trainer. Best Vet!

I moved to the neighborhood earlier this year and needed a new vet and I feel SOO thankful to have found Dr. Gagliardi!
He and his staff are extremely caring, thorough and attentive. I trust their judgment and care without exception.
My dog was extremely sick after hours and Dr. Gagliardi came in on a Sunday morning to take X-rays and look him over, not wanting to jeopardize his health by waiting another day. His dedication is such a rare treasure.
He is also extremely sensitive to the costs of animal care and doesn't nickel and dime you for every test or procedure.

I have been going to this vet for 4 years, and even thought I now live 60 blocks away I would never switch vets! They are so kind and knowledgable there and extremely helpful. I have called at odd hours with questions and concerns and they always return my calls and put me at ease despite the hour or the ridiculousness of the issue! Dr Gagliardi is fantastic!

We were new to the neighborhood, so we looked for the closest vet we could find. What we found was an experienced, dedicated, caring, and knowledgable veterinarian. Dr. John Gagliardi may not be ""Dr. Bedside Manner"", but John came to our house at 11 pm in a pouring rain because our cat had a problem. He then went back to the hospital, forgetting his umbrella at our apartment, to bring back what was needed. And we had only been clients for one week.

John is very devoted to his work and to the animals and goes out of his way when necessary to help a sick or injured animal.

Quality, Compassionate Animal Care

Here is what I look for in a vet: consistent, intelligent, practical, compassionate care for my animal, accommodation of my schedule and urgent care when my pet is sick.

I've been taking my Boston Terrier to Dr. G since adoption, and he excels at all of these criteria.

It is interesting that the reviews are so hot and cold - without question Dr. G is an animal person first and foremost, and in his interaction with people he is frank and direct and doesn't suffer fools. He and I get on quite nicely, which given the quality of care he gives my dog, is icing on the cake.

Dr. Gagliardi has taken care of my dogs since he opened Cooper Square Vet in 2003. He has always made the right diagnosis (one of my dogs has several serious health conditions) and has always been great at following up if I'm treating a dog at home, checking to see that the dog is recovering as he or she should. He always thoroughly explains the condition, the treatment, and what to look for in terms of progress or a lack thereof.

I would give 0 stars if i could.
John Gagliardi treats his staff like S&^*! It is very telling of someone the way the boss treats their employees and I would hate to work for someone that talks down to me the way he does. It would make for a miserable work environment which it clearly does since they go through staff really quickly.

I adopted a feral orange tabby and was in love at first sight. I was told she has been ""fixed"". After about two nights she began having a ""heat"" cycle and I could not figure what was going on.
