Best Hot Dog on The Sunset Strip!

Review Rating
Carneys is the Sunset Strip version of the hot dog and burger stand. The food is great and reasonably priced. Vegans and dieters beware! The fries are worth killing for when they scoop some cheese and chili on top. (The primary concession to healthy eating is "protien style", which means without a bun!) Carneys has free parking behind so you never have to worry about that. Service is always fast and it's built in a converted rail car in the middle of the Strip so you can't miss it.

Carneys is so good that when my aunt was having chemo for cancer and couldn't eat, her last meal request was a Carney's chili cheese burger & hot dog. She ate them in about a minute!

Besides the traditional beef, they also have turkey and veggie burgers. Everything is fresh and made to order. Plenty of free parking and great service. Superlative chili dogs. Kids love eating here because it is in a train.

Housed in a bright yellow train car along Sunset Boulevard, Carney’s is a one-way ticket to gastric bliss (or in some stomachs, demise). Specializing in chili-topped hamburgers and hot dogs, it’s not exactly the healthiest ride, but a stop after a night on the Strip can be satisfying. The interior is as narrow as a real train car; folks with spatial issues might want to sit at an outdoor table.... more

In Short This casual SoCal burger joint inhabits a bright yellow Amtrak passenger car from the 1920s, and its white- and red-paneled walls sport old framed black-and-whites documenting its disco-era construction. T-shirted tourists and local die-hards order at the counter and grab napkins from a bathroom towel dispenser at the end of the line. Trademark burgers and hot dogs are served... more

All aboard! 1920's Amtrak crashes on the Strip, serves up juicy 1/2 lb. burgers, taughtly-tied dawgs, and meaty, chowdery chili. Great for ambiance, people watching as vacationing packs of 18-year-old boys strut around in blue shirts looking for sports bars where they can drink their heads off and generally disgust the local female population. Stop by for a quick, drunken bite before stumbling... more

If you're looking for an awesome chili dog, with TONS of grease, this is the place. Nothing they serve can even be remotely thought of as healthy...so don't look for that. You're there for an awesome chili dog, chili fries and soda.

The place can be busy for lunch, or late at night after the bars let out. Its GREAT for a hangover, or to just simply give you a heart attack! Enjoy!

I'm a big fan of carney's chili burgers! It's not the healthiest meal to eat but it's delicous. I'm also a fan of they're quesadillas! The only thing I probably don't like there is the hot dogs...they're kind of chewy. But other than that Carney's is great: the location, the service, and the food!

Carney's was a tour de force of scary fake burger meat, which I think is the worst kind of meat and the queen of bad food. Many orders were mixed up and my lettuce mayo burger came out as a 1000 Island dressing disaster.

Suffice it to say, I did not enjoy Carney's very much.

I'm a huge fan of the turkey burger at Carney's - it's very very good. Not 'gournet' good...just plain tasty. It takes about 10 minutes to cook - always a good sign - meaning they prepare it fresh. Thumbs up.

Probably NOT the best hamburgers in town. Alright, its junk food, and in that category they're OK. But these are grease burgers, just watch the way they cook them. Its cholesterol city. And the burgers do NOT look like the pictures on the billboards. Fries are OK, but too thin for me. I don't go here any more, I'd rather spend a bit more and get something better.

This iconic eatery is a regular weekend stop for us. The friendly staff keeps the place clean, and they work through the longest of lines like a machine! The taste of the chili can vary, from a mellow mole' flavor to the greasiest of hangover foods, but when added to a burger, it opens a new vista on fun food. Special orders are de rigeur: onions, no pickle, add cheese, pickle on the side,... more

Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience at Carney's Restaurant. Although the service was acceptable and the train was very clean, the food was not on par. First, my order was wrong.
