Business Description from the Web
The original Chattanooga Choo Choo made its first run from Cincinnati in 1880, but it wasn't until Glenn Miller sang about it that it became a nationwide novelty. Today you can still view an actual wood-burning train engine on display in the terminal station, which is now a 30-acre vacation complex. Several restaurants, shops, and a hotel make their home in this downtown attraction....

Editorial Reviews from the web
In Short Since its 1952 debut in Memphis, Tenn., Holiday Inn has become one of the most recognized hotel brands in the world. Kids rule here: Children age 19 and younger stay for free when sharing a parent's room and as many as four children per family (age 12 or younger) eat for free at hotel restaurants. Other amenities include 24-hour business services, an in-room coffeemaker,...

The Scene A massive, five-story, stone train station looms in the distance as you approach this 14-track station originally built in 1909. The railroad station lobby is now the foyer of this 360-room hotel, and as you walk through it, gleaming marble floors reflect the massive pillars upholding its three stories and a voice from the past rings out, "Now leaving, track number four, all...

This restaurant has great atmosphere and the food is delicious. Very clean and staff is more than accommodating. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Chattanooga.
The Station House offers overpriced food at a tourist trap. The service was less than second rate, as all the servers also 'peform' with the band at one time or another. I wasn't told that salad bar came with the meal and only found out by overhearing another waiter tell his customers.
At $17 you would expect a double pork chop and not a single and the meat was not well cooked. Avoid.

Do not stay here if you are above the age of 17 and you want to actually sleep. I am staying in this hotel tonight and there are many large groups of teenagers staying in the hotel. They have been "meeting" in the hallway outside my paper thin door for the last 30 min and it is 9:30 at night. VERY LOUD!! I have called the front desk and nothing has been done. I tried to cal the front desk...

My husband and I went for our 1st anniversary - I was last there 20 years ago with my parents - Our reservation was not held as I was told it would be - Service was slow at best - It took 20 minutes to place drink orders - Ou food was slow to come out too (my prime rib was dry and hubby's potatoes tasted funny) - then our server dissappeard and did not return until she brought out check - we...

For over 8 years in our business we continually traveled. We have been in all 48 states, many multiple times, and eaten at thousands of restaurants. We found 3 steak restaurants, which we feel, are the best 3 in the U.S.A. We live in SE Alabama, BUT I was born and reared in Houston, Texas TEXAS, where steak is sacred. The Station in Chattanooga, TN, is definitely in the top three. The...

Chattanooga Choo Choo March 27,2008 My husband and I took our 2 grandchildren for any overnight stay at the Chattanooga Choo Choo. We chose this hotel because our 3 year old grandson loves "choo choos." He absolutely loved the train car we stayed in. He cried and would not get in the car the next day until we promised him...

We were pleasantly surprised that the room was not as horrible as all of the previous reviews had stated. We were in Building 1 and it had already been remodeled with very basic ammenities. We enjoyed the indoor pool and the train atmosphere. The staff was exceptionally nice and helpful from the desk all the way to the service staff....

We were allured by the charming idea of staying in an old railroad car, thinking our two daughters would enjoy it. Arrival and parking was easy. We checked into car 750, and left for dinner. We were settled in for the night when we realized we could not control the thermostat (could get no heat) nor could we stop the...

For a little weekend getaway, we took our 3 year old boy to stay in a train room. He loved the room and all the train stuff on property including train cars, trolley, and model railroad museum. Just returned from a stay at the Holiday Inn Chattanooga Choo Choo. The kids loved it! Even my husband was impressed. We stayed in a train car. The train cars are very cool. We have stayed here thanks to hotwire. Booked a $59 fare for the Easter weekend. (If you go to Hotwire and look for a 3 star as there are no 4 star listings there and it around $59-69 chances are strong you will stay here or the Reed House). They are finally in the process of renovating the place beginning...

My husband and I decided to take a weekend getaway to Chattanooga for the weekend. The Choo Choo is absolutly a jewel of American history. Entertaining for all ages. Although the hotel had been updated, it seems that the rustic charm of this landmark hotel was left in tack. I hope it is never renovated into some shining modern hotel. We have enough of those. Kids loved this property and the singing servers were fantastic. We were told a couple of them did well in the American...

Great lobby, fun to see the trains. Buildings quite dated. Restaurant food barely OK, service very slow. Rooms (Bldg. 3) all overlook pool, which is nice. Horrible smell in room -- fried fish, maybe? Ring-shaped pool with waterfall was a hit with kids, but hot tub in the middle is actually a residential model, not a commercial or in-ground one like you would expect. (I wonder if it's been...

The Choo Choo is great for a family vacation. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from on site: dinner on a train car, the pizza car, singing waiters, hotel buffett. The rose garden, gold fish pond, knick knack shops, ice cream and candy shop, trolley car and trains are entertaining diversions. The hotel is decent for the location and money. A few years ago all of the pools had slides...

The hotel staff was very friendly and very helpful. Very familyfriendly. Lots of things to do and see at the hotel with out leaving the grounds no matter age.

"The room was not nice at all. Old & dated. Poor lighting, water was dripping on my head from the ceiling while showering. Ordered room service- took an hour, order was wrong & it took 20 minutes for the man to return. Everything was cold. He was very nice & I did get a refund. Had to call the front desk at least four times before someone answered. Good to check out the Choo Choo, but I would...

The atmosphere there is old and nostalgic so if your looking for something modern, this...

I thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt even though the other reviews were mostly negative. I've stayed here before and thought much the same way. I thought we would freeze after getting out of the indoor pool. There was absolutely no heat whatsoever. It's like they don't put anything back into the hotel. Definitely not worth it.
I am a platinum priority club member and this the worst Holiday Inn I have every stayed at. Very poor customer service and hotel needs major updating. The hotel is in a very bad neighborhood and it is not safe to walk around night. Do not take your family here.
"The lobby is historic and nice and the rooms are spacious. BUT, the hotel itself needs a face lift BAD! Small, uncomfortable double beds. Lighting is poor and electrical recepticals are poorly located. I stay in a lot of hotels and you can find much better in Chattanooga. "

"My daughter and I stayed in a train car for fall break. We were soooo disappointed. The only good thing I can say is that staying in a train car was fun. Otherwise, this hotel is NOT worth the money. The furniture was poor quality, the lights didn't work, you could see through the towels, the staff was unfriendly and were more interested in talking on their cell phones. Visit the Choo...

"Oh, the history.... but the paint is literally peeling. The room stank of mildew. Was there for one long night and couldn't wait to leave. Good tourist attraction, but poor hotel."

"We love staying at this hotel because of all of the train cars. My children would be happy if we never left the hotel. It is true that the rooms are not all that great. The hotel has really bad leaks and when it rains it is awful. This leads to wet, stinky carpet and wet wet walls. It is still our favorite place to go because our kids love the trains. If you dont love trains...well you would...

The hotel room was not worth the price charged. The furniture was all banged up and the wall paper was peeling. The air conditioner was really loud too. The singing waiters at the Station House were wonderful.
We really enjoyed our trip to the Chattanooga Choo Choo. The food is really good and we loved the singing servers! The hotel has a great historic feel and beautiful gardens. The rooms were clean and spacious and I would recommend the hotel to anyone. The train cars are great entertainment for children!

The Chattanooga Choo Choo Holiday Inn is worth a visit even if you aren't planning to stay there. Located in the city's former 1909 railway station, the Choo Choo's fine architecture is breathtaking. It's been painstakingly restored and is one of Chattanooga's biggest attractions. The grand dome is a sight in and of itself and I'd be willing to bet unmatched by anything else you've seen.

The first time we stayed at the Choo Choo we stayed in a Victorian train room. These are old train cars that have been turned into rooms. Several words of warning if you are planning to stay in one. The hot water heater is not very big so if you are planning to shower - one person might want to shower the night before and the other person the next day.
Also these cars are not soundproof -...
