great for meeting friends
It's quiet enough for you to have a conversation and cool enough to make you and your friends comfortable.
Business Description from the Web
Owners Jason McEntee and Greg Sears set out to create an unpretentious wine bar where wine knowledge and a well-padded wallet are not required. The result is Bodega, a dimly lit, loft-like bar where all glasses of wine are $8, no matter what country they come from. Besides wine, there is also beer, sake and a creative selection of appetizers, sandwiches and pizzas to help level out that third...

In Short Dim ruby hues and tea candles predominate the space, creating a low-key vibe for relaxing hipsters. Couples lounge on crimson benches and plush white leather ottomans--more boisterous crowds convene in cavernous booths along the walls. The eclectic menu outlines flavor notes like earthy plum, chocolate or blackberry, and all glasses are equally priced so dollar signs don't...

Went to Bodega on a Tuesday night with a date and it was a perfect place to meet. The wines are all $8 a glass and there was a great selection. The appitizer menu also offered a good selection and we tried the brushetta which was tasty. I'll definately go back to Bodega again. Scene was relaxed and friendly.
Pros
+ Good inexpensive wine list
Cons
- Valet parking costs $5

We celebrated my friend's birthday here. It's a great wine bar to meet with your friends after work or celebrate a birthday. They had big tables and a lounge area to accommodate up to 20 people. They only serve wine and beer - great selection for both. The food was great! They had appetizer portions. Try their pizza, its great with their imported beers. The staff was attentive and helpful. The...

So we checked out Bodega on a whim after tiring of the line outside Father's Office. I was pretty skeptical going in, but Bodega is by far more laid-back and less pretentious than even Father's Office. While you may think this is kind of comparing apples to oranges. Bodega offers just as many wines just as cheap during happy hour as Father's Office does beers, and all the wine at Bodega is the...

When I show up with my girlfriend to grab a bite to eat and a few glasses of wine (and yes, at least the pizza was good), please don't ask me to hold a credit card. It makes me feel like I am Cabo. It would also be nice if you did not charge me for a cheese plate that I neither ordered nor got. Stay classy.
Pros
+ really good pizza
Cons
- slow, inaccurate service.

I feel like Bodega doesn?t know what type of wine bar it wants to be. At least that?s the impression I got when I went there one Saturday night. There was a DJ playing up-tempo music, but the venue doesn?t have any space for dancing. The place bills itself as a wine bar, but there?s hardly enough table or counter space for people to put down their glasses, let alone bottles. My recommendation...

Uninspired wine list. No flights period- forget about flights paired with food or dessert. Truly some of the worst food that I have ever eaten. The only plus is the creative use of the space- nice, contemporary atmosphere.

Went there last night for the first time and really enjoyed it. My boyfriend and I had an awesome waitress, and she let us sample a few of the wines before committing to a bottle (only $20 on Tuesdays!). She was very knowledgeable and helped us pick out a great wine and the delicious grilled cheese (so gluttonous but worth it). I think we got lucky because it was a slow-ish night, but the...

I live really close to this place so I thought it would be a good idea to go there on a Friday night to just have afew drinks with some friends. Unfortunately, this turned out to be areally bad idea. The waiters/bar tenders were extremely arrogant and it took well over 20 minutes for the waiter to bring the wine I had ordered (it didn't even seem busy in there).
Pros
+ walking distance from...

Fantastic wine bar. My favorite wine bar, actually. Great wine selection. Food is pretty good. Ambience is fantastic. Relaxed atmosphere. Great place to meet up with friends before heading to dinner.

I came here a few months ago and I am shocked that not more people have reviewed this place. When I went, it was "good" busy, and it seemed like the locals had already caught on. Anyhow, the decor is quite nice, the menu is very simple and gives casual wine drinkers VERY easy access to wine. They also have good beer and soju and sake. The wine is very reasonably priced, the crowd is cool,...

Hung out a few nights at Bodega. Its much more a lounge than a wine bar which is a good thing. Super cool atmoshpere with lots of couches, corners and places to hang. Everything is priced the same so you don't have to worry about what kind of wine your ordering (no cocktails, but they have beer and saki as well). Food is good with small plates of pizza, humus, cheese & fruit and other apps...

I met three of my girlfriends here on a Friday night. We had a great time drinking wine and eating little bites and catching up. This place is big enough to have a conversation with friends and not feel crowded, but also fun and stylish for a girls night out. The music is great - we kept asking our waitress what they were playing. The grilled cheese was delicious as were the portobello sliders....

Been living in Santa Monica for a while and couldn't find a place to go that wasn't either 1) a scruffy dive bar (which I enjoy sometimes), 2) a swanky joint (which I also frequent on occasion), or 3) a anything on the promenade (stay away!) There didn't seem to be anyplace else in this town. Whoever opened Bodega must have had the same dilemna as me. This place feels like a cool neighborhood...

after trying for a while to figure out where exactly i was allowed to park, i was finely able to figure it out and get inside. they have a nice selection of wine and the atmosphere is fun with its dim lights and red, black and white interior. i particularly liked the red window. the people there were nice although there were a few strange ones. all the employees were helpful.
Lately I have really gotten into wine. I do not really like other alcohols that much. This wine bar has a great atmosphere, plenty of places to sit, and a huge variety of wine. I loved how it was decorated. The crowd there was laid back and just there to talk which is nice because I do not like the bar scene.
If I could give Bodega less than one star, I would. I'm not really into complaining about places online, but the way we were treated at this place was so appalling, I feel I need to warn other people before they make the mistake of having an event here.
My sweet fiance reserved the Lido Deck at Bodega for my birthday this past weekend. We arrived to an absolutely dead wine bar. By 10 PM, my...

We went in and had food and wine and ran up a big bill. We had a friend meet us later who was starving. At 11:03 they said the kitchen had closed at 11:00 and they wouldn't serve her BREAD. Then we looked at another table at 11:15 and they...

The wine here is good. The food is not so good. I have heard the branch in Pasadena has better food and less of a meat-market feel to it.
Its not really a wine bar, but more like a cool lounge. Great music, lots of space to sit and have an actual conversation. Highly recommended for meeting friends, date, etc!!!

Last Sunday, my husband and I were invited to celebrate a co-worker’s birthday at Bodega Wine Bar in Santa Monica. I had never heard of this place before, but I was excited to discover a new drinking spot. As soon as I walked in, I knew I would like this place. It [...]
A lot of wine bars tend to be intimidating, crowded, or small. Fortunately, it's not the case at this neighborhood spot. Been going there since it opened in 2006 and always try to get there early to chat with the bartender, who always picks a good wine from the pretty decent list. The addition of DJ's on certain nights gives it an extra enjoyable dimension. Ironically, the place is never...

Great date place, the wine selection is wide, the scene beats many LA hot spots.
Inviting, relaxing, upper scale.
this place is picking up steam. it's a good escape from the promenade area for a more genuine time. their happy hour from 4 to 7 draws in a heavy work crowd. try the red dragon.
great lounge and atmoshere - nice clientele
Our Designaed Driver was so insulted for a plethora of reasons. The waitress took all of our drink orders EXCEPT for our DD's Club Soda. We asked the bartender, Wayne, for the drink and he told me to "sit down and wait for the waitress". I have never experienced such horrible service. Until our DD asked him for a drink (non-alcoholic) and he ignored him. In LA people have to drive to bars!...

Very good wine - great pricing idea - great space - great crowd BUT - they need to do something about acoustics - gets TOO loud and also - PLEASE re-work music selection - its a Wine Bar - not a club - think Miles Davis / Chicane / Jamie Cullum etc..
i live on the westside and i'm far far too lazy to head out to hollywood in the evenings, so i'm always looking for a chichi spot to grab a glass of wine near my house. bodega bar has a cool interior and seems to draw a good-sized crowd on the weekends. i was hoping for excellent munchies as well...but they are just slightly above average. still...the wines are mostly great, and the price is...
