The Bottom Line: Rooftop pool and downtown location attract families and individual travelers. What's Special About the Omni Austin: Location in downtown Austin very convenient to the convention center and the State Capital. Complimentary wireless Internet in guest rooms. Rooftop, stainless steel swimming pool and whirlpool. The hike and bike trails of Town Lake are a short walk away, and...

Part of the posh Austin Center office and retail complex, the Omni's spectacular 200-foot rise of sun-struck glass and steel leaves you feeling simultaneously dwarfed and exhilarated. Rooms are far less overwhelming -- they're not especially large, and ceilings tend to be low. But they're attractive enough, in a bland contemporary way, and well equipped. If you need to hole up for a while and...

I frequent Austin for weekend getaways and chose the Omni for the first time, as I got a great rate on Hotwire. First I will say the rooms were small but nice. The housekeeping was very friendly, as were the bellhops. However, the first night I came back to lobby after a night out with friends. I am in my 30s, and not some college kid cruising in drunk from 6th street. Long story short, a...

The restaurant is very quiet which can be a great thing in the downtown area, sometimes you just need to get away. The service was not hurried, the food was excellent as were the cocktails with a small but intriguing wine list. A nice escape from the hustle and bustle of downtown Austin.
Pros
+ excellent food with cocktails that compliment
Cons
- very quiet, you may be the only one dining
The OAH was a very nice hotel. I liked the open bar on the main floor. The rooms were better than most and I liked the location. I don't know if I would take my family there, but for a business traveler like myself I thought it was pretty good.
This place may work for weekday business, but avoid it at all costs on weekends with families. This very sterile business hotel is located a block or two from the famous/infamous 6th Street party scene. The guests reminded me of what you'd see in a Las Vegas casino: loud, boisterous and inappropriate.
Our daughter was accosted by a drunk on the way back to her room with a pizza. The price of...

This is a great hotel to stay in. It is central to everything downtown. We used it to house our out of town wedding guests. The hotel assigned a coordinator for the rooms, and set up a great rate. They gave us a 3 room suite for free for booking the rooms with them, and a free night to use at a later date. The hotel is fun and relaxed, with attentive staff. Rooms are standard, but the rooftop...

We've sayed at the omni a bunch. The staff on the concierge lounge are super. Happy hour nice. New chef is very talented. Maid service right on point. Rooms are quite nice for a city hotel. Great facilities.
Pros
+ Concierge, Roof top pool, Great new chef
Cons
- other hotel staff will seen sub par after staying at the Omni

Very friendly and helpful staff, they have a pretty well stocked gym. You can even have a treadmill delivered to your room as well as a "Get Fit Kit". Take great care in accomodating travelers...breakfast was delivered to my room as requested on the card; no one ever disturbed me...they just knocked and left it there. We had our wedding at the Omni, and it was fabulous. Our guests were treated well, and the rooms were great. We loved the location because we could walk to sixth street and the capitol. We were given a complimentary suite. I still get compliments on the food that we served at our wedding. Everyone says that its the best wedding food they've ever had. We served steak, and everyone was...

Purchased the hotel room on priceline... Searched for 4 star hotels. would have We prefer the Hilton. They had a hard time finding us a king size bed, but they eventually found one. They were going to upgrade us.
The rooms look very basic. Comfortable enough, just very standard.
The one part that freaked us out was that there was a ghost in the room. FYI - Room 506 is haunted.

My wife and I just got back from our weekend stay in Austin. I've never seen service like this at any hotel. The check-in was quick. The bellhop was knowledgable and courteous. The room was spacious and very clean. Tip: ask for an even numbered room (better view). It rained a little so we didn't get to take advantage of the roof-top pool and jacuzzi, but I'd definately recommend it. ...

For the money, I was expecting this hotel to be better. I could not get any sleep during the night because it was just SO LOUD. They should really think about soundproofing the walls! You should only think about staying here if you plan on going out at night. My favorite part of this hotel was the staff, they were friendly and courteous. Service here was terrific. Parking was expensive! Im not...

Recently I was came to Austin for a wedding and basically went with what I found to be a decent deal on the internet. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the deal I got was very enjoyable. The rooms were clean, the staff professional, and the service was great. I will be back for sure if I ever return to the Omni.

We stayed at the Omni in September of this year. I am currently planning a trip back. The pool is beautiful, the staff is very helpful, and the elevators are great! I do not have one complaint about this hotel, would recommend it to everyone I know.

I like riding the glass elevators to the rooftop pool and hot tub. At night, the view from the hot tub is romantic (bring a bottle of wine) and depending on when you go, it isn't too crowded. The lobby has shops and a restaurant (a tad over-priced). The staff has always been very nice and helpful.
The glass elevators are featured in the locally filmed "Spy Kids". Also, the pool on the roof affords you a view of most of Austin.
Pros
+ central location
Cons
- the paintings
We had a Sat. night stay. On Sunday morning about 9:20 the maids started banging on doors and were yelling at each other up and down the hall. Everytime a door opened or closed in the hall, our door rattled. Construction was going on in the hotel and they started hammering about 10:00. During the week for business travelers these times may be acceptable but not on the weekends. We were very...

Don't get an exterior wall room. The Austin 6th Street night clubs are very LOUD and the hotel will not tell you about it. It is worse on a Saturday night when the drunks are all out yelling. I have stayed at this hotel 3 or 4 times now, and just want to warn the fellow consumer that although many sites list it as a 4-star hotel, it most certainly is not. The Omni has such a great name and reputation, but as we later found out, this Austin Omni is a party hotel on the weekends. We stayed here in January and it was just average. The decor was nonexistent (which I don't really care about but it was just so bare), we didn't have washcloths the first day, one elevator was out of service and the others were SLOW. I stay at the Omni Austin hotel every two years for three or four nights. They treat me excellent and I will keep returning. They are excellent in everything except food.
The hotel was beautiful. I was given an upgrade. The service and the food were fabulous. The staff met my needs and they were very attentive.
This hotel made me feel entertained: There was a special celebrity poker game in the lobby. I got to see and speak to a number of famous people.
My stay at the Omni hotel was fine. As a long time user of their hotel chain I always look to stay with their chain. Their customer service is top notch and their hotels are exceptional in design and comfort.
I practically lived here for the past month, and it was overall a great experience. On two separate occasions, I got a certificate for a free weekend stay along with a plate of fruit and crackers and a free in-room movie.
The staff was great, the rooms were clean and the pool on top had a great view.
This hotel made me feel welcome: The staff is extremely friendly and willing to help.
