Tables are smartly appointed and well-spaced, allowing just the right amount of privacy for an intimate tête-à-tête, and the service is refined yet unpretentious. The Scene Alexander's lounge adjoins the lobby of the Sheraton Norfolk and shares its small, intimate room with the hotel's Riverwalk Café. With dim lights, glowing candles on each table, and a lovely view of the Elizabeth River, Alexander's is a comfortable place to relax and enjoy a drink with friends. Next door to The Waterside and overlooking busy Norfolk Harbor, this contemporary 10-story hotel has a more modern ambience than its main competition, the traditionally styled Marriott 2 blocks away. A three-story, light-filled atrium lobby gives way to two restaurants with outdoor seating and a bar with 30-foot windows overlooking the river. The spacious guest quarters are furnished with dark... more

This is a beautiful first class hotel, decor in both the lobby area and rooms are exquisite. Located in the heart of downtown norfolk, walk to the many outside festivals or over to harbor park for a game. Beautifl views of the city.

The hotel was at 100% capacity, yet they did not have a hostess at dinner or breakfast. At breakfast, the line got rather long. The last time I stayed there they had smoking rooms available, not so anymore. I guess non-smokers rule, but it would be nice if they catered to everyone. The elevators were extremely slow. My room was near them so I heard them all night long, but someone has to stay... more

I can't really complain -- I bid $65 on Priceline and was given this hotel. The pros are that we had a great view of the water and that there are plenty of restaurants and nightlife to walk to. This hotel exhibits extremely poor service for a Sheraton branded hotel. Portico Chere / Valet is a mess and service at the front desk is abysmal. I was nervous upon reading the reviews of this hotel that I stayed at many times as a child, when the property was an Omni. Everyone was kind, courteous, and friendly. This hotel is a total disaster. Its run down and nothing seems to work. We stayed there over Labor Day weekend, and the only way it could have gone worse is if the place had burned down. Problems: 1. I thought this would be a classy hotel. Wrong! The beds and linnens are wonderful, but it is a little hard to relax after seeing a giant COCKROACH in the bathroom. They moved us 9 doors down and reduced the price of our room by $* a night, but I'll never forget that thing sitting on the toilet. They should do everyone a favor and close the hotel down till they are finished renovating. The... more

It's about time this hotel is being renovated. I felt like I was staying in a low income nyc apartment building. Stains on the carpet, peeling off wallpaper. Very dirty appearance. "This is, by far, the WORST hotel I've ever stayed. I should've been forewarned when the desk-clerks were apologizing while I was checking in. The rooms are gross with mold, filth, and grime. The restaurant is overpriced. I've stayed in many Sheraton hotels. This doesn't compare. Please AVOID!!"

"I stay at the Sheraton several times a year. Lately, I've seen a definite improvement in the quality of the staff and the quality of the room. I will stay there more in the future. I would appreciate free wireless internet - why do the more expensive hotels charge for connectivity, and it's almost never wireless when they do?"
