We have two multifamily residential properties in Portland. After having had the runaround from the unresponsive call center, I traveled 600 miles to the Portland office in an attempt to get things straightened out. I was assured by an account executive there that he would speak with his supervisor in the Wilsonville regional office and he would get back to me "by the end of the day." That was Monday morning.
It is now mid-day on Wednesday and I have not heard from him. He is following the page in the Republic Services/Comcast manual that says: "If you ignore them, they will go away."
We do not wish to do business with a company that does not care about its customers. We intend to cancel our contract.
If you own a business, this garbage service should be the absolute last on your list of choices. They are simply the worst I've ever dealt with. They consistently miss pick ups, they spill garbage all over, they leave my dumpster open and never lock it after, they miss recycling pickups. Their prices have gone up dramatically since I signed up, but when I tried to cancel they told me I would definitely be sued if I did. I'm hostage now to their contract because the cost of a lawyer would be more than it's worth. I can't believe they run a business like this.
This is the worst garbage company in Portland. Their prices are higher than anyone, and the service is the worst. I don't know how they stay in business....
In Dec 2009, I wrote a letter to Allied Waste requesting that service be reduced from weekly to once-a-month. Paid for weekly service through Jan/Feb. Called office but call was disconnected. Called again. Disconnected again. Continued to be charged for weekly pick up even though I was no longer placing cans at curbside on weekly basis. Received threatening notice from Allied Waste with invoice for weekly collection. Sent letter to them again with copy of letter from Dec 09. Requested they call me. No call. Two weeks later received another invoice with threat to take me to court if I did not pay for weekly service. Have used collection service since 1991. And this is how they treat long-term customers? Wonder why they will not honor weekly request? Wonder why they continue to threaten legal action? Meanwhile, they keep adding up charges with no explanation next to the charge. To think I used to make goodies for the collectors and give them holiday gifts.
