The atmosphere at Charlie Vergo's Rendezvous is cheerful and festive. On entering, welcoming smiles greet you while the aroma of sizzling food fills the air. This place is quite popular amongst the tourists. Ask for the barbecued ribs or taste the pork loin fare. Fast service, good selection of beer and wines makes this place worth a trip.

A favorite with Memphians, this restaurant is where they take visitors for fun atmosphere and food. Technically, the ribs served at the Rendezvous are not barbecue—they are char-grilled with a dry rub of spices. But the slabs of ribs are huge, tender and reasonably priced. Barbecue sandwiches—filled with rich and juicy shreds of pork—as well as portions of both pork and beef ribs all go for... more

The Scene From the alley, a flight of old stairs leads to a cluttered but cavernous cellar where novelties, antiques and just plain junk cram every square inch of wall and ceiling space. Friendly bartenders man the draughts, but the seasoned waiters dispense as much gruff and good-natured attitude as they do good food. Opened in 1948, the tourist attraction still rings with the din of... more

At The Rendezvous, the Saturday-night-in-Memphis feel, old-time memorabilia, and wise-cracking servers are legendary. It is best known for its wet (with sauce) or dry (rubbed with dry spices) ribs, which can be hit or miss in terms of quality. But when they're on, they're very good. The barbecue pork loin, barbecue chicken and sweet-savory red beans and rice, though, are always good choices.... more

Although best known for its barbecued ribs and waiters with attitude, Rendezvous also has a big beer hall upstairs from the restaurant. It's a noisy, convivial spot, and a good place to start a night on the town or kill some time while you wait for a table in the restaurant.

I used to live in Memphis and at least once a week we ate at the Rendezvous. Best ribs I have ever eaten, great atmosphere and just all round best place to be. I enjoyed living in Memphis but the thing I miss the most is the Rendezvous and their ribs. If ever there, it is the place to eat. I order them since we live many miles from there now. That is how good they are!!!

Love this place! Go as you are. No need to dress up...that's my kind of place!! Got seated, fed & out in less than an hour on a Friday night! Been ordering their spices & sauce for years. Found out my Dad and Mr. Vergos used to work together in the early 60's in Memphis. Made going there that more special. SO HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO GO EAT THERE!!! Atmosphere is great, service is awesome and love... more
