In Short Like the larger-than-life elephant statues that guard La-La Land's own version of Times Square, this 20-story building rises out of the Hollywood and Highland complex, which contains the Kodak Theatre and more shops and restaurants than anyone could handle in just one day. Part of the $615-million Hollywood & Highland project to restore Hollywood to the glory of its heyday, the Renaissance Hollywood opened in late 2001. The hotel now serves as Oscar-night headquarters for the frenzy of participants and paparazzi attending the Academy Awards in the Kodak Theater next door. The newest addition to the revamp of Hollywood Boulevard, this 20-story building rises out of the Hollywood and Highland complex, which contains the Kodak Theatre, home to the Academy Awards, and an assortment of shops and restaurants. With renovations completed in 2002, the 637 guest rooms feature Hollywood sign and city views, and a space age feeling ’50s style décor. The unique Panorama suite, which occupies the former circular restaurant on the roof, boasts a 270-degree view. The hotel is designed to fulfill guests’ expectations of mid-century Hollywood glamour, but much of it feels like a theme park. The grand lobby is graced with a massive mural by Charles Arnoldi, while the pool deck offers plenty of chaise lounges and a full service spa. On the second floor, Twist serves California-Asian Fusion cuisine and the whimsical Lobby Bar serves a mean Martini.

If you are visiting you must stay at least a few nights at the Renaissance. Yes it is a bit pricey but it is true Hollywood. You can get a room with a few of the Hollywood sign. You are next to the Kodak theatre and the Hollywood and Highland shopping center. A must.

It's close to the Kodak theatre, the Man's Chinese Theatre and is surrounded by shopping and all kinds of great places to eat!
